I was watching the interview with Rob O'Neil yesterday and then saw another story about a White House fence jumper this morning so it got me wondering, who would win a hypothetical matchup between the Secret Service and a motivated team of SEAL Team 6 operators trying to infiltrate the White House? I think given the recent track record of the Secret Service, my money would be on the SEALs. What do yall think?

My guess is that the Secret Service guys are not trained and equipped to repel a military assault.

I would imagine the SEALs in a straight up fight, however secret service numbers and the home field advantage may be key factors. Also, since I imagine the WH has a fairly decent security system in place with all it's fancy bells and whistles the fact that any idiot watching a monitor or listening for alarms and a fast response could top the balance in Secret Services favor if element of surprise is lost.

Someone should make a movie about this...

oh, wait...

And the production crew would give away the SEALs' plan, preventing them from actually making it into the WH.

I would hazard to guess that they pretty much already know the answer to this. I would not count the SS out in this fight... Probably a lot of former SF types around the 'House.

I'd go with the SS on this.

I know the fence jumper makes them look bad, but you have to look at it from their perspective.

They probably have lots of countermeasures and planning in place for different kinds of assassination attempts, invasions, assaults, etc.

But who would have though somebody would just try running in through the front door? Obviously nobody, since it didn't even lock automatically.

Are we talking about the SEALs on their own or with the numerous support elements that tie into their effectiveness?

Only if the Secret Service has access to the support units in its arsenal (Air Force air defense, Marine units, PD Swat units etc).

If both teams are granted support units, the Secret Service wins by miles and miles.

The SS would not fight, they would grab the POTUS, his family (if possible) and immediately vacate.

Valid argument.

A team of them would do so. The rest would stand and fight to buy time.
