quote:Another question, what do they do for undershirts nowadays? We safety pinned, cut the tag off and wore them backwards when I was in school. It seems there aren't any undershirts with tags anymore and they all have the tags ironed on.
Thanks for the link. The picture they used bugs me (from the linked site).
What's with the Serge Shirts?
I'm sure they save $50/year in uniform costs by issuing everybody the same shirts.
But... removing Class Distinction![]()

I know they made this change a few years ago, I just feel like being grumpy this morning.![]()

On a related note, I just had to free up some space on my SmartPhone and noticed several large video files. Turns out they were videos I filmed of the Corps March-In before the Mizzou game I attended last season. When I watched them, one thing I forgot about (because it's not readily visible) came across clearly on the audio. The clicking of the taps on the black belts low quarters. Good Bull!![]()
quote:That's good. Always good to look squared away. I also used to like the safety pinned shirts when I was there, and thought it looked really good.
We wear normal tag less undershirts and safety pin them to keep them tight to the neck.

quote:McPeak -- I feel like I have an open mind to change and try to listen to leaders when they introduce it. But with McPeak, I always came to the conclusion so many of his decisions were really all just about him and not for a better Air Force.
At least the wife of the Army Chief of Staff isn't making uniform decisions for you. The Air Force did away with crew necks and switched to V necks because McPeak's wife didn't like seeing airmen with their "underwear" showing.
quote:Yeah, those started becoming popular when I was there. I never liked them because I liked the flat appearance of the collar you got with the cotton shirts. But more importantly, especially during the fall, those shirts wick moisture way too well. You could always tell who was wearing them during march-ins. Compression shorts were even more noticeable.
Another favorite within the Corps is to wear a white Under Armor or Starter shirt. It's a tight fitting shirt so there's no need for safety pins or removing tags.
quote:I never would have even thought of that. I guess it makes sense these days.
