Have you read the article on The Mugdown website that goes into detail about it? Apparently it's due to some hazing issues that have been longstanding that the Corps is finally taking control of.

http://mugdown.com/2015/01/28/corps-bans-shaking-hands-to-cut-back-on-hazing/

I'd recommend reading other articles on the website. Lots of insight into what's going on at A&M that you won't hear anywhere else.

Thanks for the link. The picture they used bugs me (from the linked site).

What's with the Serge Shirts?
I'm sure they save $50/year in uniform costs by issuing everybody the same shirts.
But... removing Class Distinction
Dislike Button
I know they made this change a few years ago, I just feel like being grumpy this morning.

On a related note, I just had to free up some space on my SmartPhone and noticed several large video files. Turns out they were videos I filmed of the Corps March-In before the Mizzou game I attended last season. When I watched them, one thing I forgot about (because it's not readily visible) came across clearly on the audio. The clicking of the taps on the black belts low quarters. Good Bull!

Satire, guys. Not true at all. Cadets STILL whip out. This is strictly a satirical magazine that has published other "bogus" stories about the Corps and other organizations on campus.

In the words of Aaron Rodgers: RELAX. Its strictly satire, and isn't true at all. But it sure fires up a LOT of people! Check out the thread about this story on Facebook on the "You knew you were in the Corps when..." Some fired up people on that thread until they were convinced that its only satire.

The discovery of that website, just made my day. Thanks OP.
The article on Muslims in ISYS got me going.

Another question, what do they do for undershirts nowadays? We safety pinned, cut the tag off and wore them backwards when I was in school. It seems there aren't any undershirts with tags anymore and they all have the tags ironed on.

I remember thinking the backwards undershirt looked sharp when I was a cadet. Looking back at old pictures though, it looks really goofy. Nobody in the real military does that.

We wear normal tag less undershirts and safety pin them to keep them tight to the neck.

That's good. Always good to look squared away. I also used to like the safety pinned shirts when I was there, and thought it looked really good.

Trident, just curious if you know how it used to be done "back in the day"? We used to wear it backwards and safety pin the shoulder of the shirt to the collar. All that would pull the shirt both tight and flat across the front of the neck. It used to also pull up the sleeves so they wouldn't be visible from the B's sleeves. Loose, wrinkly, bacon collars used to really annoy me, along with the undershirts flagging out from the sleeves.

In retrospect it does feel kinda weird how we did it, and probably unnecessary. Although I'll still do it in my khakis if I feel I need to look really sharp. It's interesting how our uniforms, and how we wear them, have evolved. Back in the day the uniforms were just like jeans and a tucked in T-shirt, no shirt stays, just a practical uniform you would do almost anything in.

Hit the nail on the head. Though maybe the Onion is a better comparison

I always thought backwards pinned shirts looked weird. Post fish year I just wore regular undershirts a size small & rolled w/it. No one ever noticed. Still do that in B's.

Related note, how dumb is having a white shirt on a working uniform? The Army's Bs look like a bus driver or mall cop & attract dirt/ink like a magnet attracts iron. As a full dress uniform for special occasions it looks great, works great. As a daily uniform just all around terrible. Almost as bad as the abomination that is ACUs.

At least the wife of the Army Chief of Staff isn't making uniform decisions for you. The Air Force did away with crew necks and switched to V necks because McPeak's wife didn't like seeing airmen with their "underwear" showing.

McPeak -- I feel like I have an open mind to change and try to listen to leaders when they introduce it. But with McPeak, I always came to the conclusion so many of his decisions were really all just about him and not for a better Air Force.

Another favorite within the Corps is to wear a white Under Armor or Starter shirt. It's a tight fitting shirt so there's no need for safety pins or removing tags.

Yeah, those started becoming popular when I was there. I never liked them because I liked the flat appearance of the collar you got with the cotton shirts. But more importantly, especially during the fall, those shirts wick moisture way too well. You could always tell who was wearing them during march-ins. Compression shorts were even more noticeable.

I always wore heavier cotton undershirts because they stored the sweat and didn't ****** out my Bs.

Damn that pic is old. That is one of my upperclassmen he is whipping out to so this pic is from 06-07 school year.

On a uniform note, everything we did fish year to look sharp (backwards undershirt, rolled tucks, tucked shoelaces) I brought with me to the Army. At the end of OSUT, I looked damn good while everybody else looked like a bag of dicks. So of course, I had to fix them.
