I'll be an old dead zip next year, but I'm happy to hear the Corps will be in good hands

They could not have picked a better person. Alyssa is going to do a fantastic job.

If true, end of discussion. Sex does not matter.

Staff,

Can we get a ban for the previous poster?

Second the ban request

I sure hope you are not a cadet or in the military. If you are, please remove yourself.

And second the notion to ban this user. No warnings.

It makes me sick that somebody like that can call themselves an Aggie.

Quoting banned material is typically a bad idea

I came to the military board just for the entertainment value of people getting banned for saying bad things about women.

Heartiest congratulations to her! I will be very proud to see her leading the Corps.

I am dissapoint.

Not enough fuddy-duddies complaining about how things used to be.

But congratulations to her anyway!

If you want people complaining about it, check out the GB.

Sharpdressed, it's been a long time. Email?

People seem to forget that respect is one of the Aggie core values

Respect is earned. I am delighted with this pick. It will be fifty years from the year I stepped in campus and forty one since females have been in the Corps. President Rudder told us that this would happen someday.

Agree with Canyon Ag. Respect is earned not given to meet a social milestone. Let her actions speak for herself as the cadet CO.

Go to the General Board. Lots of New Army types and non-regs griping about her there. Double engineering major while on Corps Staff. I think she'll be fine.

A some ags about our time frame had serious misgivings about the first female outfit: W-1 Minverva's finest nicknaming it Medusa's worst or something similar. Do you remember the Battalian editorials lambasting the outfit? I do. I also remember Col. "Uncle Tom" Parsons (Corps commodant at the time) state the order to form the company was coming, and he was not going to stand in the way.

The powers that be at A&M saw what was happeing with the Courts ordering West Point and Annapolis to accept women and the stipulations they put on them and made the correct decision to allow women to join the Corps under our own terms without court interference. Smart move on their part.

I always thought that the ROTCs had us accept women first, so they could use us as guinea pigs for the Academies. Intentional or not, that's what happened. The Academies came to A&M for advice.

Not how I heard it back just before it happened. The powers that be saw that the courts were going to impose their will on the academies and knew that as a public entity, we would also be in the cross hairs once they "fixed" the academies. So they decided to be proactive and beat them to the punch.

Found out this weekend she is from B-1 (my outfit), a detail left out of all the articles I read.
