Actually, it can be spelled as one word or two. The old Irish version is one word: Garryowen. A more contemporary version is two: Garry Owen. Combat Operating Base (COB) Garry Owen was established in the Maysan Province of Iraq near the city of Al Amarra by 2/7 CAV.
Either way, its a proud regiment with a long, proud history. I'm proud to have served alongside many 7th Cav soldiers, NCOs, and officers.
