Are there plans to install temporary bleachers at Simpson drill field for Final Review this year? In years past for fish review (and back in the day when FR wasn't at Kyle Field), only the people in the first 2-3 rows had a decent view of the Cadets - if the University were to put some aluminum bleachers on one side, it would be extremely beneficial. Plus, my family (most are not Aggies) would not complain to me about not being able to see the kid marching in his Zip boots.....

I know that Commandant79 monitors these blogs on a regular basis.....

As long as it is at Simpson Drill Field I see that as a problem!

My understanding is that FR will be at Simpson this year due to the construction of the west side of Kyle.

Yes, Final Review will be on Saturday, 9 May, at 9 am on Simpson Drill Field. Last year we did get some bleachers, but only a limited amount (approx 5-6) from the athletic fields at Penberthy that Rec Sports let us borrow. Otherwise we would have to rent bleachers - at a cost of close to $2,000 per set.

Just as we did last year for Final Review, we will get the word out early to family and friends who will be attending to bring chairs, umbrellas, ice chests, water, etc to the review. We WILL once again have some limited bleachers from the athletic fields for people to use, and just like last year, we will have seating on the reviewing stand for handicapped and the elderly.

Just FYI: we will also have the Corps Major Awards ceremony and Corps Review for Parents Weekend on Friday evening, 17 April at 6 PM on Simpson Drill Field. Same rules will apply that evening as well.

Hope this helps. We got a LOT of very favorable comments about the reviews last year on Simpson Drill Field and we look forward to having our reviews again this year on Simpson Drill Field - where the Corps conducted its reviews for decades.

Thanks for your support of our Corps! Gig 'em!

Reviews belong on Simpson. But they are much better attended now than "back in the day". Maybe send word out to parents of cadets to chip in a little for temporary bleachers?

Maybe you could follow the 12th Man Foundation example, and sell reserved seating for $1,000 per inch of bleacher wanted.

The full pass in review is Friday evening and not on Saturday this year?

For Parents Weekend, the Corps Major Awards and Review will be Friday evening, 17 April, at 6 PM on Simpson Drill Field. Its been on Friday evening of Parents Weekend the last 3 years.

Saturday of Parents Weekend is chock FULL of events on campus, including many Corps events, and there just isn't time to do a Corps Review on Saturday. When I got here we did the awards and review on SUNDAY of Parents Weekend - usually lasting ALL afternoon. Not good for cadets OR parents.

With the awards and review done on Friday evening, Saturday is devoted to many other events, including individual unit ceremonies/banquets, RV and FDT performances on Simpson Drill Field, the Aggie Band awards ceremony, the Leadership Certificate ceremony, individual Corps awards ceremony, and the PMC review for parents at The Green. There are NO scheduled events on Sunday any more, allowing more time for parents to spend with their cadets before they return home.

Hope this answers your question. Thanks for your support of our Corps!

Yup, thanks General! Even though I was at the pass in review last year as well, I had forgotten it was on a Friday. It was always Saturday when I was there and typically half the whitebelts were hungover.

I'm just happy that folks actually know it's pass in review. Don't know how many times I've seen pass and review.
