I talked my girlfriend into watching Band of Brothers last week and she loves it so far (probably my 10th time?)
When she read the caption that Winters earned a bronze star at the end of the third episode , she randomly stated that her grandfather designed it. Obviously this got my attention! She explained that her grandfather created the molds for the bronze star that is still used today. She went on explaining that there were 11 molds made, and her dad has all 11 evolving metals including the final product in a case with the letter from the American Emblem Company explaining the results.
Her parents are moving this weekend and we went by to help out a bit. Obviously I had to ask about this case...and sure enough, there they were. All eleven evolved metals with the 11th being the first bronze star created...along with the letter.
Now if someone can explain how I can post the pictures I took...
