About a month ago, several months after my Grandfather passed away, I was given his Heart Shield Bible that was gifted to him by his Mother during WWII. The Bible and shield are not in the best shape and show the signs of obvious wear and rust. I want to honor my Grandfather by displaying his Bible in my home, and thought that it would be an great idea to show his Bible along with one in more pristine condition as I do not want to recondition his. The picture below is the style font used on the shield.

My question for the board would be, does anyone have any contacts or websites they could provide who may be able to find me the Bible with heart shield I am looking for? I have seen ones on Ebay in various degrees of use, but am looking for one that was never used and has sat in a collection for the past 70+ years.

We have a couple in our collection. With of course the obvious wear and tear. 70 years in, I would say it is pretty doubtful finding one NIB with little to no condition problems. Even just sitting in the box (which I am positive was made of acid produced cardboard) would have eaten away at the brass cover and the leather binding.

Personally, I would not get too wrapped around the axle about finding a cleaner version to display it with. You have an absolute treasure that many would love to have. The wear and tear on it are part of its legacy and memory of your family. Find someone local who knows how to properly mount the bible in a long term display case that will also protect it from further deterioration. Acid free lining and most important of all UV filtered glass to prevent light damage.
