My old USMC service uniforms are just collecting dust in my closet. Do I just throw them out? I don't want to donate them to Goodwill and risk having some POS civilian wearing my alpha coat with his hipster jeans. TIA.

Someday when I wake up with an overwhelming desire to have my ass kicked from here to Del Rio, I'll buy a USMC dress coat and wear it with hippie jeans on the streets of San Antonio.
The person that is not willing to fight and die, if need be, for his country has no right to life.

My uniforms (Evening Dress, Blues, Greens/3sets) went to a future young 2nd Lt. The uniforms were in great condition & Saved him a bundle of $$$$.

Long shot, but about what size are you? I just commissioned and I might be able to take them off your hands.

Yeah it's a long shot. I was either a 42 or a 44 reg in the shoulders back then. Not sure. Neck 15 1/2. Trousers would probably be around 30W x 32L. I'm 5'8".

I'm keeping the dress uniforms, but the service alphas + long and short sleeve shirts are free to any Marine LT who wants them.

Dunno about the USMC, but every AF base has an "Airman's Attic" (or some such) where used uniforms in good condition are donated and subsequently resold at hugely discounted prices. Profits go to the Airman's Assistance Fund. But if your uni's end up going to a non-military entity or person, be sure and strip all rank and insignia first........

Pea coats are pretty unisex (like the Navy), right?

I don't think many women would be interested in wearing my uniforms.

Those are all my correct measurements, if the uniforms are still serviceable and you aren't too far away I'd love to take them off your hands.

I just resigned this summer after 8 years AD in the Marines, and I have no idea what to do with my uniforms. I'm too emotionally attached to them to get rid of them, but I don't want to just keep them all in boxes either. Probably just going to store them for now, and reevaluate in the future to see if I'm still too sentimental about them. Haha, it's driving my wife nuts bc she wants me to get rid of them.

TG - congrats on commissioning. It's getting tough these days to get accepted to OCS at all. My 2.5 GPA, 275 PFT and white male privelege in 2007 would get laughed out of the board now.

I stored mine for 20 years. Got to keep the dress unis for sentimental reasons, but I'll be happy if TG can actually use the rest. I never did, aside from 30 days TDY recruiting during the time between IOC and reporting to Pendleton.

I kept my service dress, one set of B's and eBay'd the rest.

I think Marines are probably weirder about selling our uniforms on eBay or craigslist or something. Not trying to make a snide remark there, I just think it's true. My uniforms would either go in my attic, to another Marine, or in the burn barrel.

I get that. I kept mine for 7 or 8 years before I finally let them go.

I also had this predicament this weekend. I had 3 boxes of uniforms that I was going to get rid of but just couldn't bring myself to do it. I don't want to enable some fool that wants to play dress up.

When I sold mine I specified that I would only ship them to an address on a military installation.

I just got out last month and I'm keeping my dress uniforms to show my kids when they're older. I still have 2 duffle bags full of BDU's, DCU's, ACU's, and multi-cam. Not sure what I'll do with them, prolly take them to a surplus store.

What size are your multicams?

I could use some.

You don't happen to be an NCO, eh?

I kept my uniforms for many years after I left active duty and finally I saved my Dress Blues and took the rest to Cash Sales there at MCB Quantico. As I was walking in happened to run into a young Marine that they fit and made his day and as payment enjoyed a couple of beers with him at The Globe & Laurel. If you have never been there and are ever near Quantico it is a Corps tradition and if Maj Spooner is still there he will talk your ear off.

My Navy pea coat,, that I used deer hunting, was stolen a while back from my ranch in Duval County.
