I was wishing to see if any of yall had any experience with Delta Company in the Corps of Cadets. I am a 29 year old veteran. I am currently at Blinn but hoping to transfer to TAMU spring of '17 in an engineering path hopefully.

I have been eyeing the Corps for a little bit and just learned that they have an all veteran outfit. I was just wishing to know what, if any, major differences are between that outfit and the others.

As of right now I am not dedicated to joining the Corps but my interest is piqued about it somewhat. Mostly because of this all vet outfit. I am a little old and a little more learned in life that I was at 18 so the usual outfits don't hold much appeal to me.

Also at this time I have no desire to rejoin military service so not sure if that is a factor in anything.

So in summary just looking for anecdotal input on this and to see if anyone has been in my situation.

TIA

If you'll send me an e-mail at jramirez@corps.tamu.edu I'll be happy to provide you information on D Company and potential options for you to join.

Thanks for your service.

Should contact Roy May if possible as well. He was in Delta Co and one of the most outstanding cadets I knew. Good guy.

Co V-1 back in the day '90. D&C never regret a day of it. Best experience of my life. Was older than most and not a problem.

V-1 Class of 1997! Not sure why we needed another veteran outfit when we had trouble filling V-1.

We keep you alive to serve this ship. Row well, and live!

V-1 became more of an outfit for non-traditional students (married, graduate, or transfer). Delta Company became the outfit for "combat" veterans.

Thanks for posting the link Momlaw.

I was never active duty, but I was in the Corps and in Co. G-2 with Lt. Col. Emerson from 86 to 90.

I had not seen him since we left A&M, him to the Marines, me to the corporate world until the day I dropped my son off at FOW the fall of 2011. I came up to him and re-introduced myself. He looked at me for a few seconds and was like "damn, how did we get this old this fast". My son graduated in 2015, had a great experience at A&M, did well as a student and we all agree that being in the Corps was a huge part of my son's success.

I had fun telling some stories to my son's fish buddies about Lt. Col. Emerson.

TL;DR
Emerson was a cool guy as a Corps buddy and is a great man continuing to do good work with the Corps of Cadets.

V-1 had both veterans and non-traditional students in it in my four years. I was a "combat" veteran as well. But OK.
