Got a snippet of an air show in St Louis, home of McDonnell Douglas, the manufacturer of the F 4.
There is only one F 4 that is operational. It began service in the late 50's. It was used by the Air Force, Navy and Marines.

Good to know Bob Smith Class of 46 was one of the test pilots. Here is the story

I spent a tour at Hahn AB Germany and we got the very first F 4 D in Europe.

Several countries still fly the F-4 so this is certainly not the last operational F-4 like the video says. And the US Government still has several operational F-4s used for target practice. I took this picture of one last week.

The media can't get anything right!

Daughter was flying over San Antonio about 3 years ago and an F-4 flew by. Very, very cool.

Have almost 4,000 hours in the Phantom (F4B, J, N,S).
My wife called her my 'mistress'. When I was not at home, she knew who I was with. One hell of a flying machine.

I was once told that the F-4 was designed with enough raw thrust to make even a 2x4 fly.........

It was actually a man hole cover, not a 2x4. I only had 1500 hours in the Rhino.

I've only got one F-4 story.

When we were in Boy Scouts in Saudi Arabia in the early 1980s, we would camp out on massive sand dunes in the desert.

One morning, we were awakened by 2 F-4s traveling at high speed at an altitude that couldn't have been more than 200 - 500 feet above the dunes. They were not more than 2 football fields away from us as they zoomed by. If only I had a video camera. The sight and sound was amazing.

We saw lots of F-15s and a few F-14s in my neighborhood but this was the only time I remember seeing F-4s.
