Why did it fall so early this year? If memory serves me right, it was usually later in April?

I feel like it's been moving left to give more time to train fish on how to actually be pissheads.

Psshhh. Just watch Full Metal Jacket the night before FOW starts and you're good to go. Oh, and get smoked for no reason just to get you good and pissed off before you get turned loose.

Grad weekend is earlier this spring. Parent's weekend is next weekend; MTTB is before PW.

The better question might be, why is PW so early? Seems like it should have been on 4/12 and MTTB next weekend.

40 years ago, Final Review/Commissioning/Graduation were on the same weekend, followed by Finals week.

Back then, graduating seniors didn't have to take finals.

40 years ago, Final Review/Commissioning/Graduation were on the same weekend, followed by Finals week.

Back then, graduating seniors didn't have to take finals.

We had to take finals 30 years ago. IIRC we did FR the weekend BEFORE graduation.

Army and Navy FTXs. There were discussions to move them around to fit the Corps schedule but the ROTCs wouldn't have it. Between those and Parent's Weekend, there was not other time.

Outfits are split now between those who have completely dropped handles with their fish like normal and those who only had the zips drop handles on Saturday with the rest of the upperclassmen to follow these coming weeks.

Wait - they spend more time these days in the 'field' than we did back in your day? I thought Cadet Command pulled back on the winter and spring FTXs we had? I don't really know, so asking.

Granted it's been awhile but we didn't drop with our zips and butts until the end of April, maybe muster time frame? We didn't drop with our heads until our heads until after finals. Final review was after finals during my time so aftwr that Wednesday we'd go to outfit canoe trip and then dropped with our heads that night, float the River the next day and then come back and March final review.

I only remember one FTX in the fall during an off weekend and then the culmination FTX in the spring with cadets from SHSU, UH, PVAM, SFA etc…. As well as making MSIIIs go on the Rudders FTX over winter break.

ETA. My junior year we were supposed to have an FTX that interfered with BQ Ball and we were all set to miss it, but a bad cell of thunderstorms caused the first night to be cancelled the day of. My date was pissed when I told her we couldn't go and then all of a sudden 10 hours prior I told her it was back on.

The still do them. Often use Swift in the fall and Bullis in the spring from what I understand. They spend a lot more time during the week doing ROTC stuff than we did as well.
