...such as this Air Force Master Sergeant. Her inflammatory opinion that she shared with the world is NOT the issue. What IS the issue is that she is clearly WAY too ignorant and stupid to be in our military.

Her profile picture pretty much tells you all you need to know.

Meh. People can have their opinions. What would concern me more is if she was bad at her job.

I've noticed quite a few E5+ that just lack critical thinking skills and require so much hand holding to complete tasks that it gets to the point where it's just easier to do it yourself. And a lot of senior enlisted that might be good at their MOS, aren't very good at developing the junior enlisted.

And with AI, I've seen quite a few people who don't actually understand what they are doing, but are able to get an AI bot to do a lot of their work for them.

BigTruckGuy, I agree with your assessment. With the propensity of AI assistance available to our younger generation, they have lost their ability to do critical and analytical thinking. Coupled with, the loss of social skills lost during the "mask up and shut up" days of COVID, I'm afraid that they are doomed to failure or at least the inability to truly succeed on their own accord. Hopefully, the older generations can help right this ship before it runs totally aground on the shoals of life.
Our military is a reflection of society but needs to set a higher standard in order to again become a good source for leaders of the future…e.g., the lack of former military in Congress an other positions is evident in their ability to weed out and eliminate those who would ruin our country because of the ability to do the required analysis and critical thinking required to discern misinformation and disinformation from viable information.
And with that, I'll step down off my soapbox for now.

I sat on the FY19 MSG board for the 15 and 19 series. I voted on some 19 series guys who I gave a 3 or so vote on, which will NOT get you promoted. Well, guess what, they came out on the promotion list. So if you think there are not racial quotas, guess again.

I wanted to check this guy out since his name sounded Puerto Rican.
Sure enough. Same age as me but born on the opposite side of the island from me.

With a distinctive name like that, it was pretty easy to internet search him.
Looks like he's left a trail of people who aren't fans including this Government Employees Union.

Just the title of the article is great:
Jaime Areizaga-Soto: A Resume Builder's Dream, A Leader's Nightmare
https://afgelocal17.org/jaime-areizaga-soto/
Quote:

Jaime served as an intern in my Senate office during the two months of the 2010 General Assembly session. He primarily met with constituent groups when I was out of the office and attended caucus meetings. Since he received only a small stipend, I agreed to give him the title "Policy Advisor." However, Jaime tells people he advised the entire senate caucus on policy positions and negotiated the State budget. I think we all know that sitting in the room during a few meetings and negotiating multi-billion dollar budgets are two very different things. Jaime's embellishments and exaggerations of his role during his time in Richmond have bothered me for some time, and I feel compelled to set the record straight.

You have a choice to make in this primary election. I have worked with both candidates and honestly believe that Barbara Favola is the right personthe best personto represent our Democratic values and our community in Richmond.

Ouch

At the risk of being in the minority here, I'll just say I think these posts might be better received at the politics forum. Not a huge fan of having politics prominent on this forum. And, at the risk of sounding political, not a huge fan of the thought police coming out here.

Unfortunately, you and 95%+ of the force may choose "neutrality" but there is a real military concern regarding loonies who interject politics inappropriately. (And yes, speech on social media that links to a uniformed member is "in".).

This is very much a military topic. It reveals a truth that there are significant ideological fissures within our force. Incompatible extremes which demand leadership action.

A political assassination isn't about politics. It's about a founding principle of our country; Being able to have an opinion and debate about it, without being killed for it.

Would these people be OK with this if someone on the right had assassinated someone they liked? Doubtful.

The fact that people find the assassination of a fellow American, because of his viewpoint, as acceptable because it was against someone they didn't like, leads me to believe they are not capable of being objective. The fact that they can't keep their divisive opinion to themselves leads me to believe they are ruled by their emotions.

More importantly, they are making this a political issue, against good order and discipline. If my leadership doesn't respect me because of my beliefs, I will have no respect for him. Really, I don't want to know his politics or for him to know mine.

If it had been some communist speaking in public that was killed, and this was military people advocating for the political assassination, I would question their judgement. And I really hate communists.

I come here specifically to read about our (veterans) opinions on what's happening regarding the military. I don't mind delving a little into politics on this board, as it pertains to the military, because this board is much more mature than F16.

But yes, we need to police ourselves.
