One of the best experiences while active duty was to be able to go to Iwo Jima and actually walk to the top of Mount Suribachi. Then later on get stationed in Albuquerque and meeting some of the code talkers and getting to spend a little time with them. They would hang out in Old Town Albuquerque and get donations for scholarships.

I got to share some of the photos I had showing the difference since the war. They shared a lot of stories. were telling me about the different trips they went on meeting with their Japanese enemy. Talking about how awkward it was to meet them and eat together.

They were all so awesome and liked to joke around. The one big heartbreak they all had was how few kids were learning and speaking the Navajo language.
