I'm not a very adventurous person when it comes to grilling and smoking meats, but I gave Chinese BBQ pork a try for the first time and it was amazing. Check out the Hot Thai Kitchen video in the link below.
Couple of notes.
I couldn't find red bean curd, but then again I didn't venture beyond HEB and Kroger. It honestly tasted outstanding without this. Next time I'll hit up the local Asian market and buy a jar. Personally, I think the key is the Chinese 5 Spice. Can't skip that.
I grilled pork shoulder and pork riblets. Wasn't a big fan of the riblets. The marinade and the glaze are a bit stout and there's just not enough meat on a riblet to handle the sweetness. Gonna try country ribs next time.%A0
Lastly, all of the leftovers that we ate the next day were just okay. Not a good idea to refrigerate overnight as the flavor just seems to vanish. I ended up making fried rice with it all which was decent.
If you're a fan of banh mi, this pork is most definitely ideal.
