It's late notice but we are heading back from Auburn and wanting to have some good Cajun or Creole in East Louisiana and would prefer not to have to go 40 mins out of way thru New Orleans, so hoping for something in Slidell, Mandeville, Ponchartrain north shore environs.

Any suggestions? Kinda craving some oysters as well.

La Provence before you get to Covington. John Besh's restaurant. Think it is still open.

I had that same idea and looked it up earlier today. Stories I found on the net said that Besh sold it a few years ago and the new owners couldn't make a go of it. They blamed the controversy around Besh re the harassment.

Turns out we couldn't last until Slidell anyway so we stopped at Wintzell's in Mobile. Tasty oysters, good gumbo, and good bread pudding in a historic restaurant. Was a quality stop.

Thanks to y'all for the input though.
