Been going to Del Frisco's (Ft. Worth) for 20 years or more on Christmas Eve and various other times. Top-notch everything. Consistent for over 2 decades. Until this year.

Crab cakes changed, potatoes changed, wedge changed...

Why can't that F'er just leave shlt alone when he gobbles them up?

Bah Humbug to Tilman Fertitta.

Sorry to hear that Del Frisco's has always been good IMO, going back to the old one on Lemmon in Dallas. The location by the Ritz in Dallas is a great space. We have eaten there a few times when visiting Dallas, though not since Fertitta bought the chain. Not surprised he's already f***ing it up. The guy has made a mint cloning restaurants, but I'm not a fan of his or his restaurants.

These days I tend to hit Al Biernat's (in Dallas) more often than not when we go to a nice steak restaurant. However, my wife makes such a good steak in a iron skillet we rarely even go out for steak anymore.

Yup. A sous vide and good iron skillet make paying steakhouse prices much less tolerable.

Been to the Houston location a couple times since the takeover and haven't noticed any differences. Still just as good.

Maybe you you just hit them on a bad night or they got a different chef or something.

This was my parents go to when they would travel from Amarillo to Houston to see us. They'd stop in FTW one night and always go to Del Frisco's.

A few days ago they said they had the worst filet and meal they've ever had there. They ended up comping most of it. Sad to see it happen.

This. When my wife and I go out to eat neither of us tends to order steak anymore. I can do steak as well as just about any place I've been. If I'm paying for something I don't cook very often, it's going to be a nice piece of fish.

+1 more. Not only that, I prefer the fact I can go to the meat market and look at the steaks and if needed get it cut to my specifications.

This thread doesn't disappoint. Bagging on Tillman and half the people here have chimed in that they can do it better. LOL poors, no matter how good I can do something at home it will never beat having someone else do it for me.

But of course, you could get a good look at a steak by sticking your head up a ....

15 years ago, yes. But Derek Stevens is kicking him in the nuts right now. Circa is legit, and The D/Golden Gate have improved immensely. The Nugget isn't the shiny new penny it was.

While I can do a great job with a reverse-seared dry aged ribeye, I never said I prefer that nor that I can do it better. Prior to, oh, March 15, my wife and I traveled extensively, and enjoy(ed) eating out, and have been to more high end steak places than I recall.
I simply don't care for Fertitta nor the Landry's-owned concepts in general, as they are very plastic and manufactured on a restaurant concept assembly-line. Unfortunately, that's happened with a number of the high-end steakhouses the ones owned by the Landry's group, Fleming's (sold to the group that owns Outback), Sullivan's (to Romano's Macaroni Grill), Capital Grill (to Darden). Fortunately, there are a lot of smaller "chains" and independents making great steaks. I will admit there is a Fleming's location we've been going to for years and will continue because we have gotten to know the people there, but there has been a noticeable "dumbing down," particularly in the wine program, since the sale.

Brenner's. It would be closed otherwise.
