Got one of those little age-it-your-damned-self kits for Christmas. Comes with a little 1L white oak barrel. Anyone ever tried this? And what spirit did you use?

I don't have any white whiskey on the shelf, my bourbons are aged just fine, but I do have a bottle of Patron I rarely sip from. Should I throw that in there for a couple of months?

Soak it with water to swell it.
Surface area is really large, so in a few months you'll have an empty barrel.
More like a week or two else it'll be super oaky.

Barrel aged old fashioned. But you need a second barrel. Drink one while the second ages.
