This is definitely one of those things that looks a lot better than it is.

Is this different than Greek Frappe? Recently had one of those and, while it's not really my thing, it was pretty dang good.

Any instant coffee will work, this is not a precious technique, just make sure you use real sugar and not a sugar substitute. It's not gross, but the foam mixture itself is a bit bitter (because coffee powder). Don't try to change the ratios, you'll **** up the whip. 10/10 experience of whipping liquid coffee up to a big floofy cloud. There are also tons of different variations on the flavor, if the coffee is too bitter for you.

Yes. It's disgusting. Instant coffee is garbage coffee. Garbage in, garbage out.

Yeah, you're trying to hide the flavor of bad instant coffee with sugar and a pretty presentation.

But, to be fair, I'm someone who drinks my coffee black so may not be a good judge to start with.

I enjoy coffee all sorts of ways -- black, with foam, steamed milk, cold/iced/cold brew...

Dalgona coffee just makes me sad.
