Big crawfish eater here. Ate 8 lbs a couple Sundays ago, been laying off since. Got the pangs late this week but none of my usual weekend boils worked out.

Wife goes to HEB yesterday. Sees they have the boil house going. Brings me home 2 lbs crawfish and a pound of shrimp with sides.

Worst crawfish I ever ate. Not juicy, not spiced right and mushy as hell. Shrimp were ok but not great.

Is this typical of their seafood boils? I like HEB and think they do most stuff great but why does their crawfish suck the nads of Satan?

I did a boil on Saturday for my son's graduation party. They were probably the best crawfish I've ever had and several people made the same comment.. Sorry that doesn't help you out

Ive heard the same multiple times. Due to these reviews, I stay away.

I've bought crawfish there and boiled myself and they were great. But have heard bad things about letting them do the cooking.

I've had two experiences. First was great. Spicy and cooked perfect. Second time they had been soaked so long you couldn't peel them without the tails disintegrating.

Never again.

I'm sure it's a function of turnover. If they are selling as they go, they're probably fine. But if it's slow, they probably sit way too long (in water or a cooler).
