Other than make pesto.
I have this basil plant I need to harvest and want to make something using a bunch of fresh basil.
Any great recipes that y'all have that are super basil forward?

we have put basil in olive oil and frozen it before to use in cooking... but that doesn't use much

Basil simple syrup for cocktails.

But seriously, pesto. You don't have to do just pesto genovese. Add in some arugula, substitute walnuts or even better pecans for the pine nuts. Save with oil on the top and freeze in one cup to go containers for the winter.

Thanks for the responses. I needed a jumpstart on the ideas.
I like the simple syrup idea.

I'm thinking I'll make several varieties of pesto. I like the sound of the arugula walnut one. Lots more on the inter webs.

I've had a basil lemonade that was really good. That basil simple syrup would be really good there as well if you don't want it for just cocktails.

Bruschetta doen't use a ton, but is worth making. Maybe you could flavor some olive oil or vodka with some.

Yeah. Thai basil tastes totally different than normal old basil.

Muddle a few leaves with your choice of fruit, add 1/2 ounce of lemon juice and 1/2 ounce of simple. Add egg white and a shot of your choice of spirit. Dry shake then shake with ice. Double strain on the rocks and imbibe my friend.

i could send my 4 year old over. She goes out several times a week and grabs handfuls of basil to eat while playing in the backyard.
