Some years ago someone had posted an additive to waffle mix to give waffles a more crisp texture without overdoing them or burning them. I cannot remember what that additive is. That is my first question.

Second question, what are the board thoughts on the best chocolate topping/sauce for waffles/pancakes? I'm good with milk or dark it doesn't matter to me. I'm thinking there's something better out there than Hersheys.

Have you ever tried a recipes for yeast raised waffles instead of mix? Best texture ever if you like a crunchy waffle. Google Fannie farmer waffle recipe and you'll find it. I leave my better on the counter overnight to sour and cook in am, super easy.

I don't eat chocolate sauce on waffles so no comment on that one.

My favorite waffles are pearl sugar waffles, I just follow the recipe on this package.
