I looked for a bread thread but didn't see one. If there is one, sorry.

I am just starting to make bread. I've made a simple Irish soda bread and some pretty simple white bread loaves. I'd like to try some French bread. Kneading scares me but I have a Kitchen Aid with a dough hook, if that would work. Do you have some bread recipes you like?

I started a sourdough starter late last year. Don't bake a lot , but as it gets some age it is getting pretty good.

I've been thinking of doing that but it seems that I'd forget about it.

Yeah, last time I tried it I did forget. But it isn't too bad. If you are baking regularly, use it, feed it and keep going. If not, I put it in the fridge for a week or two, get it out and feed it when I am ready to use it, then put it back in the fridge.

I made my homemade version of a Chik Fil A sandwich on my sourdough today.

I want to make more bread but I have to eat what I've already made first!!

Honey beer bread is very easy to make and is a hit with everyone who gets a loaf.

I have most of the popular bread books and think Tartine Bread is the best. I like it because it walks through the basic starter development and bread building discussion helped me the most.

As for websites, https://www.theperfectloaf.com/ is really good. If you make starter the recipe for pancakes/waffles with leftover starter is amazing.

Thread makes me jealous. Really need a good (if they exist) gluten-free recipe...my 5 year old has celiac and I'm tired of paying $8-9 for a trash loaf of bread. Certainly I can make something better! Have tried two recipes so far and struck out on both.

I can't find a good loaf for a muffuletta to save my life. I would love to hear a recipe if someone has a good one!

Howdy Breadies! For recipes I LOVE King Arthur Flour site, they have about a zillion! I have the Zojrushi bread machine, if you love to make bread this thing is killer, pricey, but a KILLER bread machine. Makes full size, 2 lbs loaves, not some round or truncated loaf.
