I know I'm late to the party on this one. I haven't watched the show in a couple of years and didn't even realize they went to Houston until this week when I came across it on Peacock. I binged the whole thing, instantly became one of my favorite seasons. It really made me miss Houston.

Having a brisket challenge was great. I thought it was really interesting to see what they were able to do with it even though they didn't have to cook it themselves. I don't remember in all the years of Top Chef where they were given a protein that was cooked by someone else and had to make something their own out of it. I thought it was cool that they gave brisket that kind of respect.

I got borderline emotional when they went fishing for bull reds. I live several states away now, really far from the gulf. I haven't been able to go in a few years. My buddy that I used to always go fishing with passed away last year as well. I still have a photo in our guest room he took of me holding one that I caught on one of our trips. I can remember plenty of times heading out in the boat and catching nothing all day, plenty of times when we tore it up.

I also thought the show did a great job showing how diverse the food and people of Houston are. I can remember several years ago David Chang telling I think it was Anthony Bourdain that Houston is in his opinion the best food city in the country.

They had a ton of guest judges from renowned restaurants across the city. Several places I've had meals at.

Just reinforced that sometimes we forget how important food is to your sense of community. Really makes me miss home, the people, and the meals.

Well said. For all its flaws, I love living in Houston.

I've lived all over Texas. After school I lived in Austin for a year, then Dallas for about 6. After that I was able to get back to Houston but had to go about 8 years ago. Houston to me is similar to A&M, it's either for you or it isn't. I've never understood the Houston hate from Dallas, Austin, and SA people. All cities have their flaws, but the positives in Houston far outweigh any negatives.

I am an insanely proud Houstonian.

Just am.

But this is one of his best episodes ever
