With glass between you and workers so you can watch them build a sandwich…..

. … and you're really excited because you're going to ask them to slather oil and vinegar all on it/ and you watch the new girl in training work with the trainer as she tries to act seasoned by doing it real fast. Then she drops a big hunk of the meat on the cutting board and quickly slaps it on the sandwich snd looks up at you in horror to see the customer reaction. Then continues sandwich building as the line is long.

Would you eat it?!!!!

One time (while working at Subway) I sliced my finger open with the bread knife. Went ahead and threw that sandwich away.
Also if we didn't use all the meatballs we'd just throw them back in the fridge and put them back out the next day.

Yeah, this is like being concerned if the cook dropped your burger onto another part of the flat-top while transporting it to the bun.

Worked at Taco Bell, Sonic and a local restaurant while in High School. Taco Bell was by far the cleanest and most sanitary of the three.

Sonic was by far the worst! Cooks taking dumps and then right back on the line, raw hamburger sitting out, basically sliding around the kitchen from all the grease.

Local restaurant was ok to good. It was fun working in that environment. As a young 16 year old busboy I learned a ton from 40 year old divorcee cooks to drug dealing waiters. Fun times.

When I worked at Carrabba's, I saw lots of food hitting the floor and then put back on the plate. The worst thing I saw was a server take back someone's food to box up. She took a bite and put it in the box with her bare hands. I still won't take leftovers home because of that.

While I agree handling your food with bare hands is gross considering how many things they've touched, I think it's even more disgusting they took a bite of the food you had been eating.

Also why are we describing Subway/Jersey Mikes/Jimmy Johns as "one of those sandwich places". We aren't on a TV showing having to hide brand names.
