Anybody ever use wood from the native black walnuts here in Tejas for smoking/Q'ing?

I asked the same thing on a similar thread a few years back.

  • Make sure it is DRY
  • Use early and sparingly
  • Has a great flavor, but can overpower

It could take a year or so to fully dry out or "season" the wood

This was cut 3 years ago plus and kept out of the weather........it's scraps from some logs I milled on a guys place.
