My former mother in law (Teacher Wife 82's mom) had an ancient waffle iron that turned out the best thin waffles ever. They might have been 3/8" thick, but it might have been as thin as 1/4". They were perfectly crisp on the outside and still tender inside. All I can find it the typical slightly thicker ones with "deep patterns" for lack of a better word.

Suggestions?

otherwise, maybe a waffle-cone maker would work? just don't roll it and make it crispy.

I've got this one as a hand-me-down. I'm surprised they still sell it new. I don't think they've changed the design in decades. Does what you describe -- makes a nice brown crispy crust with a tender inside.
