Selecting a Beer/Wine Distributor?

Figured this board would be a good place to ask. I am part of a small business venture that will be offering beer and wine to our customers. We are not planning on alcohol being a huge part of the business, just something to offer mom and dad while the family spends their time with us doing other things. My question is how do I select a local distributor to supply the beer and wine? Our license will only be for single serve bottles and cans, and not draft beer.

Is the process as simple as calling a local company and letting them know what we are looking for, or is there more to it? The location of the business is Wimberley. I appreciate any information you can share. Thank you.

A buddy of mine is some kind of big wig in this outfit, that's about all I know. You may want to talk to the local liquor store and get the download from them on who the distributors are in your area and how to get set up with them.

I assume you have all of your TABC permits, gotta pay the extortion fee first.

Thank you for the response and the link. Yes, we have already obtained our license for this.

Distributor may not create a new stop to give you your random two cases. After delivery fee it may just be best to go buy it from the local liquor store yourself anyway. If you know the owner I'm sure you could work out a deal.

Can't hurt to call the distributor but can't imagine they don't have a minimum order fee. Most do.

My understanding from a friend who is building a restaurant in Leon County is they have to buy from a registered wholesaler in their county. It looks like there are 7 in Hays county.
Castle Liquor in Kyle
Mad Roosters in Wimberly
Proof Liquor in Buda
Skips in San Marcos
Spec's on Barnes in San Marcos
Spec's on Hargraves in Austin

To perform that search, TABC has a Public Inquiry section on their site. It's kinda clunky.
