I get 4-5 bottles of expensive wines as gifts each year. While I drink a decent amount of wine, I really don't have that many "special" occasions to open an expensive bottles.

Now, I have accumulated 10 or so expensive bottles. What can I do with them? I really don't want to sell them. Is there a liquor exchange or something? I wouldn't mind trading them for nice bourbon or something.

Why not just drink them. Don't need a special occasion, IMO.

Agree with AggieOO. If they mean nothing to you, no reason not to drink them.

As for possibly trading them, I guess it depends on who you ask. But being able to show provenance and proper storage typically matters with high end wines.

What are you considering an expensive bottle of wine? What could be a Tuesday night dinner wine for you could be expensive to me, or visa versa?

"Expensive" is relative. What would you consider "expensive?"

This is the question. Is expensive to you $100/btl or $1,000/btl or something else? If it's $200 or less, just drink it. If it's $500, etc you can sell/auction and get some cash.

Post the bottles here and how much you want for them

This. Being able to prove how they were stored is paramount on high end wines. People aren't going to be willing to lay down a pile of cash on wine if the provenance can't be proven.

Being thirsty IS a special occasion. Drink up.

10-12 are $200-$250 bottles of Contessa. Others are $100 bottles Camus. I'm not interested in selling. I like the idea of bringing down bar of special occasion and drinking it.

Thanks all.

I lowered my bar years ago and haven't regretted it one second.

Every now and then we splurge and cook a real nice meal and open a bottle of what the hell. Those bottles gifted to you were meant for YOU to enjoy. I envy you.
