Working within a time limit, and can't venture too far off 281.

Any suggestions for a tasting/patio situation close to JC?

I'm seeing Lost Draw, and I enjoyed their tasting room in FB. Would appreciate any suggestions. Have about 2-3hrs in JC to do wine and food, then hit the road.

On a Sunday, if that matters.

Lightsome wines is in JC. They are pretty unique, but if you are up for something more akin to a natural wine they do a good job.

Siboney Cellars is a beautiful place, about three miles out of JC on the left as you head to Fredericksburg. Clearly invested some money in their facility.

Aggie-owned 12 Fires is just a little further down on the right. More rustic than Siboney but still a good visit. Fairly new indoor tasting room with a large patio.

Ron Yates is about six miles out. They have an outdoor patio and an indoor tasting room.

Lost Draw - closest to JC. Small and quaint. You can bring you own snacks/food. Fantastic reds, esp the tempranillo. No entertainment whatsoever. Ask for Sherry as your server. She likes to share more wines that arent on the list. (I'm a wine club member)

William Chris - next one down. Gorgeous scenery. Fantastic wine. More crowded, will have live music

Always enjoyed Narrow path,

William Chris is overrated and annoying to listen to the servers slobber over them

Lewis Wines is fantastic and is just five minutes from Johnson City. Doug and his team are true stewards of the land and put a ton of hours into their on-site vineyard.

Also, I second Lightsome Wines. She is doing a guided tasting at the Nice N' Easy on Sunday (3/30) at 1 pm, 3 pm, and 5 pm.

I agree on Siboney Cellars. Beautiful place and very close to JC.

many places listed in this thread aren't close to JC like OP mentioned.

Siboney had the best charcuterie board I've ever had, if that's your thing. I thought the wines were just ok, but it's been a couple of years since I've been there.

Agreed. Their stuff is not bad by any means, buy it's definitely not as good as the hype. And I always get a vibe of "our **** don't stink" when I've been there. I'd much rather go somewhere less pretentious.

Their older wines and are much better than their new stuff. Surprisingly, you can still buy them, you just have to ask.
