I know this is a bar and grill, but I was wondering if kids were allowed, like a 6 year old. We were given a gift card and would love to try the food. I understand being there late at night with a kid probably isn't best being in Northgate, so we would be there between 4-7 maybe.

They're allowed but restricted to light beers.
You're from down South,
And when you open your mouth,
You always seem to put your foot there.

Is the Dixie Chicken where the old Aggie Den, Burke Hargrove's pool hall used to be located? Or is it the old restaurant that was close to Lupot's bookstore? It's been more than a few years since I've been back there.

He's more of a margarita fan. He likes the umbrellas in the drink

To Northgate.......Yes. The last time I was at a football game at Kyle Field was probably 88 or 89 and that's the last time I've been on campus.

The Chicken has become a family gathering place. A&M Students don't go there unless mom and dad are in town and buying food and beer. You're good to go

It's where it's always been. Right next to Duddley's.

The burger place next to the old bookstore was the Cow Hop. That's been gone for a long time.

Howdy Mathguy64: Was at AMC 1966-1971 there was No Dixie Chicken in those years. 'Bout all I remember was Ellison's Drug on the corner, nothing else on that stretch of the street was to noteworthy! All the joints that have come and gone since 1971 kinda blend together now so it is really hard to know what was there when, but definitely no chicken.

It opened in I think 74. But it's been in that location since it opened. That alley of bottle caps was deep and rusty when I got there in 82.

I spent more time in Duddleys than the Chicken.

Thank you sir. I've never set foot in the Dixie Chicken but I can't say the same for the Aggie Den. One didn't want to challenge it's proprietor, Mr. Hargrove to a game of 8 ball, 9 ball or most especially one pocket. The man was a master pool shooter. He could 2 bank the cue ball into the object ball and make it in the pocket he called.

I think the reason we would go is if we were walking. I preferred going to Barracuda/Salty Dog on Mondays for MNF, $5 pitchers and free hot dogs.

I lived in Walton so it was an easy walk to the Aggie Den, the post office and Sbisa
