I was surprised to find a decent brisket at HEB so I went ahead on that. Will do rice dressing and potato salad with it, and then my wife is making a 7 layer dip.

Same here (outside of Knoxville). Kroger has choice briskets on sale this week for $2.99/lb. Wasn't planning on brisket but it's on the smoker.

I sure paid for mine. It was prime, and it was a good one at that, but HEB was $5.99/lb.

I don't do this very often though so when I do… It's a treat.

Couple of pictures from last night. I neglected to get a picture of it when I pulled it off around 1:30 but we'll get a picture of it when I slice it this afternoon.

Oh no it's usually pretty solid, I was just surprised to find a good one the Saturday before the Super Bowl. Figured they'd have been picked over.

I made crawfish etoufee over fried catfish. Catfish atchafalya. Also fried some cheese sticks and chicken tenders for picky kids since the grease was hot.
