That was always the case. The defensive and offensive strategies have always been suspect but worked.

I hate to ask but does the basketball program at A&M have a ceiling? And are we hitting it?

Teams adjusted to us. We have a coach who has no ability to adjust to anything.

Payne is as what kept this from happening sooner. Teams weren't prepared to be dominated in the paint against us. They've gotten extremely physical with us, and st the same time, they are just watching each others tape and easily dissecting our terrible defense.

Yes.

Payne is part of the problem on defense. Shooters are wide open because we keep messing up on the inside and we can't recover.

I'm not trying to defend our play lately, it's been bad, but the reason it's bad would make it bad in any defensive scheme.

If Taylor and Phelps can't stop penetration it doesn't matter what scheme we run, people are gonna be open.

I'd say it's a fairer criticism to say we're bad at coaching fundamental on ball defense than to say we just let shooters fire away.

I didn't say it was all because of Payne. But he's been bad on defense most of the time. It's mostly Taylor and Phelps. (And the revolving door of terrible defenders at the 3 spot.)

And he's doesn't say they just leave the corner three unguarded. That's not what we do. The three we like is the wing three, and in that good stretch tonight that's what we were forcing Florida into and they weren't hitting them.

But then it all broke down again because they were killing us by driving the ball. But the end result is all the same.

If Phelps and Taylor aren't going to be better on the ball we could run any defense you want and it's not going to matter.

You have no idea because we've never even tried to run another defense because Buzz is incapable. No matter what we do, his bread and butter is crowding the paint and double teaming the baseline. And whether he means to or not, his teams routinely leave the corner 3 open, routinely leave their feet and fall behind in rotations, and routinely get beat off the dribble. It's not just Wade and Phelps. It's everyone except Solo. So when everyone ****ing sucks at running a flawed defense, it's probably true both the scheme AND the coaching suck ass.

But it didn't suck until like two weeks ago. We were literally fifth in the country in defensive efficiency like 18 days ago.

Penn State 2023…was an issue then and it's still an issue now. We have 6 guys from that 23 team and yet we still can't defend the 3 pointer. 55%…Floridas starters made 55% of their 3s…

100% accurate, we will let you beat us with what you want to do. I can't understand how we refuse to adjust.

It's not about defending shooters better. It's about guarding the ****ing ball better to not have us constantly in rotation

Any good team is going to shoot open shots if the man guarding the ball is getting beat. I don't care how well you're coached

We haven't had this issue until like the last two-ish weeks. I don't know if it's tired legs or what but it's been really bad

So if your on ball defense is better, is there some other defenses you could have worked on in the off season to mix in maybe?

What offense dribble around and drive in out of control and hope we get a rebound, It's slop disgusting and no one can watch a whole game if this crap.

I've been saying this a long time, win or lose. This rotate around the arc zone without adjustments is "miserable" at defending the three. Any team knows to simply quickly rotate the ball around and find the wide open guy for a game of horse.
