Is it me or have games become 20-30 minutes longer recently. I remember not too many years ago, you could set your watch that the games would be over right at 2 hours. Now they seem to last an extra 20 to almost 30 minutes. TV commercials? Play reviews? My imagination?

The Pat Adams extension. Any game he officiates lasts at least 20 minutes longer so he can hear himself announce his reviews.Aggieland Proud said:

No idea why, but you are correct. They used to be basically two hours on the dot, and now that is a rarity.
A big part of it has to be game reviews
Seems like they are always going to the monitor to check on flagrant fouls and goal tending, or to make sure they called the foul on the correct player etc.,,
Then lots of closely contested balls that go out of bounds within the last 2 minutes are reviewed.

Watching the summer basketball Olympics spoiled me. There's no reason a game should go over two hours unless it's OT. Four media timeouts per half is insane in the first place.
The last two minutes take 30 minutes. That's problem. One timeout per half.
