OU beat Mizzou 96-84 tonight, moving Ags into tie for 5th with Mizzou, which we take head to head.

If Ags win at LSU Saturday, would get winner of 12 v 13 in Nashville (currently hogs v sips), then would get UT next

I was just tracking that. I know it ultimately doesn't matter much, but it feels better to have 5 seed over the 6 or 7. Cannot overstate the hugeness of the Auburn win.

Unfortunately……..(wet blanket alert)

It would be just like us to beat #1 convincingly wire to wire and then get run out of the gym by sorry ass swamptard

12/13 is currently Georgia vs. Texas. (Arkansas owns the tiebreaker over Georgia)

I don't see why it matters, not that I really care either way. It's the difference between playing 12/13, then 4 vs. 11/14, then 3. The 11-14 teams all seem pretty similar, as does Tennessee/Alabama.

Tenn is most likely going to be the 3 and Bama the 4 seed as Tenn has head to head vs Bama. So if we're the 5, we'll likely play Bama if we win our first game.

How would that be like us? We haven't lost to even an average team all year.

UCF is also incredibly average. I don't think we'll lose to LSU, but we have lost on the road to two so-so teams already this year, and blew double digit second half leads in both.

Again, I think we beat LSU on Saturday, but there is precedent this season that shows it's possible.

So losing to two mediocre teams (one being the first game of the season, and one a rivalry game) on the road- would be the same as getting "run out of the gym" by a nowhere near average lsu?

We haven't been run out of the gym by anyone, except maybe Florida.

The mental gymnastics to be overly pessimistic devoid of any evidence to the contrary on this board is baffling.

Where did I say we'd be "run out of the gym" by LSU? Where did I even say we'd lose to LSU? I clearly said I think we'll beat LSU.

The lack of reading comprehension devoid of any grasp on reality on this board is baffling.

It matters because the SEC is going to dominate the 1,2,3 seed lines for the Big Tourney

If we are a clear #5in the SEC we should land on the 3 if we are 6 th we might be on the 3 line

The 7 th & 8th place teams will be 4 or lower

Agree that them and UCF aren't very good but neither is considered a bad loss and UCF was like 30 games ago.

NCAA tournament seeding is not tied to conference standings. We are not battling with Mizzou for a better NCAA tourney seed, that hay is already in the barn

I don't like how we choked against sip so would love to see them again. They are a weird team though having beat mizzou and state, but contain number 20 and we win by double digits. Hope we get them again.

Sips are not average. They are a tournament team and we beat the hell of them at home. It took a miraculous comeback from them in Austin to beat us by 1 point. We have not lost to a bad team the whole year.

Texas is not a tournament team. They're going to need to get incredibly hot starting right now to be considered for an at-large bid. I think they've got to beat OU on Saturday then win at least 2 or 3 games at the SECT to get a sniff. Even if the Horns beat OU this weekend, they'll finish 7-11 in the SEC and 18-13 overall with a non-conference strength of schedule of #349. That is not a tournament-worthy resume.

UCF and Texas are both losses to mediocre teams. That's not the end of the world because of how well we did elsewhere on our schedule...but let's not sugarcoat it. Those were two regrettable losses.

I can assure you that our resume doesn't have what's considered an average loss on it. Hell UCF is like one win away from being quad 1.

I did not say standings I said clear #5 in the conference
Standings are a good place to start the evaluation but schedules are unbalanced and HTH is not great because most matchups are played only once bringing the home court variable in

Standings resume predictive metrics is how the committee will rank the SEC teams

SEC 1- 4 are all going to be on the 1 or 2 line SEC 5 will get the 3 line if we beat LSU and win 2 games at the tourney than it is the Ags otherwise it could be UK

Regarding Mizzou if the Ags lose their next 2 and Mizzou wins 3 in a row they are likely right back in the discussion of who is the 5th best team in the conference

So basically, Mizzou needs a lot of hypothetical scenarios to go their way just to draw even with us, and even then the trump card is an Aggie win in Columbia. We're good
