3 DAYS TILL SELECTION SUNDAY! We are here in the SEC Tournament! 12 teams remaining! Quarterfinals, us vs them! Of course we'd end up playing tu game 1. The SEC tournament seems a bit difference this year because we know we've locked up a high seed! Does winning more games give us a 2 seed, history says no. So the conundrum we face is whether it's worth it to win 4 games in back to back to back to back days or just have all our eyes focused on the big dance. The perfect answer is why not both, and that can certainly be true! But what's an SEC tournament championship worth if we face a first round exit or what's a loss to tu worth if we're playing in the second weekend of the tournament! Either way, it's Aggie basketball in March, try to watch in the office or get comfy at home and let's BTHO tu!
Game tips off 2:30 or 30 minutes after game 1 concludes. So expect a start closer to 3 lol. It's obvious we're going to get their best shot, their backs are against the wall and they need every win they can possibly get for a chance to go dancing! They struggled to finish the year, but looked dominant against Vandy yesterday. Tre Johnson is a lottery pick for a reason, but he's still young so there is some inconsistency! In a must win in their regular season finale he struggled mightily and went 0-14. When he's off he sinks their entire team. They do have other strong guards in Tramon Mark and Jordan Pope. They can shoot the 3 and against us they will take lots of them! Arthur Kaluma is their x-factor as he can score at all 3 levels.
They don't really have a strong inside presence. So we need to establish the paint on both ends and control this game. Payne needs to stay out of foul trouble and get the ball early! He can have big game, but as we saw against Auburn, our team can have a great day when we're cutting to the basket rather than settling! What we really need to see is rhythm and consistency on offense as we head into March. We know our defense will be there as will our effort and physicality. I want to see us making some open 3's, getting to the foul line, and finishing at the rim!
There's a reason we're a projected 3 seed and they're on the bubble. No games, let's just go out there and BTHO tu!
