It will be very interesting to see how having different refs in the NCAA tourney plays out for SEC teams, especially the more physical ones, which is most of them including A&M.

By the latter part of the SEC slate refs were letting so much contact go it was kinda crazy. SEC refs became desensitized to the bloodbath. How will refs treat SEC teams in the tourney and how will SEC teams adjust to that, if at all?

I do like our ability to absorb some foul trouble with our front court depth. That should allow us to continue to play physically if things are called tighter, and help our offense with more contact getting called on our drives.

Wasn't it Jason Williams that mentioned that at half-time at one of the tourney games? It's wild that so much contact is now permitted on the perimeter. We tend to think of the old big east or 90's NBA where a trip to the lane required insurance. Now the guards bump, grab push off---alll of that before a travel..

I'm ready for AI to take over officiating. Refs can have too much of an impact and it is impossible for people to not have some level of bias. A player or coach could say something mean to a ref and hurt their feelings causing them to influence calls.

I actually think the only team that's going to have issues with officiating is Tennessee and maybe Arkansas. The other really good SEC teams don't mind a wide open basketball game. The tighter the officiating the better probably for Alabama, Kentucky and Florida. Auburn can play any kind of game you want. Vandy and Oklahoma probably prefer a tight game too.

We don't mind a game with a lot of fouls as long as Wade is the one getting fouled the most.

My feeling is I don't think we see ncaa tourney refs having teams at the line for 25+ free throws per game

I think they are going to let some form of physical play go to a degree so they aren't calling fouls every 30 seconds

I don't think the networks want free throw shooting contests

Big segment a few weeks ago about this and explaining why SEC schools do not fair well in tourney. They will not allow us to be as physical

I think this was a bigger deal previously than this year though. For a while the best SEC teams were all just athletic physical teams that liked to get handsy on the perimeter, Tennessee, Kentucky, Auburn, etc.

But now there's more SEC teams playing more wide open basketball.
