Please stop shooting 3s, esp. dumb 3s!

At one point in the 2nd half we were 1/11 from 3 and 10/12 from 2. Not sure how we finished but that was clearly the Yale game plan to bait us into 3s.
They may have had the worst interior defense we have played all year. Loved the game plan to get 10 in foul trouble, he picked up 3 in the first half, his split was +1 when on the court -12 when he was out. Not sure how he finished but he was a non factor in the 2nd half due to foul trouble.
And while I'm on the topic, absolutely executed the defensive game plan flawlessly not letting the Greek get the ball or ever get open looks.

I didn't have many problems with our threes but it does seem like we rebound them better when they're not from the top of the arc. When the defense is playing like that you're going to have to shoot some.

A&M should never shoot a three unless they cross a few things off the list.
1 - see if guard can take it to the rim for layup or easy assist for dunk
2 - look for somebody on the block. he can always kick it back out
If the first two options aren't there, you can swing it around and shoot a three. Jacking up a three when you've used 5 seconds on shot clock needs to disappear.

We rebound 40% of our misses. It's the weirdest (and ugliest) moneyball I can think of, but it works.

I say this every game. Do they listen? No.
Now I just expect it and if something else happens I'm pleasantly surprised.

It's essentially hockey. Just slap it at the rim and get the garbage put-back.

Most were reasonable shot choices but 4 has the bad habit of letting it fly from way behind the arc early in the clock
Those 3-4 were poor shot selection and wasted possessions but in the upside after a couple of those they remembered we had a huge mismatch inside and started feeding the post
Ya our gameplan has only led to the 2nd/3rd best season in A&M history. But thanks for the novel advice OP
Yeah, I don't love those either but they are definitely predictable. If Taylor is that open, a shot is going up. I'd have liked for him to at least wait another beat or two to make sure we were in position underneath though, but at this point hoping he doesn't shoot a few of those per game is like hoping for gravity to change.

I also think there is a difference if Wade is the one do it versus someone else. You live with it because he generally will still keep you in the ball game despite the 2-4 really bad 3PT attempts.
The only way the 3pt shooting gets better is if Wade, Hef, Phelps, and Wilcher don't go 2-17 again. One or two of those guys have to shoot better the next game.

Jay Wright's comments last night on the post-game were great.

- Said Texas A&M is the least affected team in the country at missing shots
- "They expect to miss and it doesn't impact them mentally" - I thought that was a great way of looking at it
The idea of being mentally strong bad shooters as strength is funny.
I also like the idea of Jay thinking to himself, "how can I call them bad shooters but compliment them at the same time?"
I'd like to see that be listed as one of the keys to the game for A&M on Saturday.
