Buzz has three choices, which do each of you think?

1. Buzz stays
2. Buzz goes to another school
3. Buzz retires from basketball

I think with him bringing mostly senior portal players in think this was his swann song. He will retiee.

So there's a 66% chance of a good outcome?

(I know that's not how it works, but need something to hope for)

If he leaves go all in on beard

Why would retire at 52? He's an intense dude

but my guess is he gets a half of a BILLION dollar buyout from the Mensa members that run our pathetic and ******ed athletic department.

A&M would never ever hire a coach like beard or lane. We don't hire winners with baggage

Buzz is the 17th highest paid coach in college basketball. Not sure how many programs with jobs available that would want him would be willing to pay equal to that.

I hope he stays…IF he recognizes the offense is a serious issue and works to correct it by getting offensively skilled players. His ability to get guys to buy into defense and boards can't and shouldn't be overlooked.

17th highest? Wow. In that case, with 2 tourney wins in 6 years he's seriously underperformed.

I don't think Buzz will be fired. If he leaves it will be because he wants to leave.

We're overpaying for Buzz Williams for what we get in return. He needs to be a counselor in his next role because he's a great motivator and a great leader. I wouldn't consider him to be a great coach. I think he's a good coach. I think he's a fantastic human being. He can get us to the NCAA tournament for many more years to come. He's not going to win a championship here, though.

So what is it that TAMU basketball fans are looking for? NCAA tournament appearances? Conference championships? National championships?

I love the fact that he's taken us to three NCAA tournaments, but the style of basketball play that we have is frustrating. It's not fun to watch. You really don't know which team is gonna show up.

Having said all the above, I don't really know if we are better off if he stays or goes.

I do know that whatever choice coach Buzz Williams makes about his future, I'm happy for him.

I mean we're keeping Joni so surely won't fire second round Buzz. Maybe let's hang a banner for his 2 ncaa wins in 6 years near Wade's retired jersey.

How are we overpaying for a coach when we don't have the resources to attract an "elite" coach or players who want to play at a multi purpose facility?

It would be the most A&M move ever to fire Buzz after three straight NCAAT appearances.

Wanna know why he's "overpaid"?

You HAVE to overpay to bring high quality coach to a school that doesn't support the sport and plays in a sterile, soulless, not configured for basketball arena, with next to no NIL.

Think we can run off Buzz and replace him with better? You're dreaming.

Buzz is a good man, a good coach, runs a good program, produces men of character, and wins at a pretty high rate. He's loyal to a fault (to his staff especially) and he knows it.

88% of SEC teams made the NCAA tourney this year. Simply getting in the tournament isn't a series aspiration for a SEC team. You have only made par to use a golf term.

You're mentality is a loser mentality that will result in absolutely zero trophies for A&M in basketball like you've caused in football. And after 6 seasons of basketball proof, you double down like someone who never played sports. I bet you defend the twirly yell leaders with your life too.

And any coach could do what Buzz does here, which is average like 5th-6th in conference with 1st or 2nd round early exits in our best years. And yes, we could hire a better coach who can recruit way better than Buzz who can't even get a Top25 class. I'd love to get a coach who can pull Top 10 classes, but any very good coach can at least get Top20 every year. Reed Arena gets packed for even decent A&M teams, and the arena does need to be rebuilt but with a coach with a ceiling above sweet-16 if not Round 2.

The guy who strangled his fiance?! How about any other coach but him. There are actually good coaches out there who don't abuse women. I'd infinitely rather keep Buzz than hire beard - and I hope Buzz leaves.

Dumb. It's not a one-on-one game, it's a team sport.

Is this post just copy and pasted and repeated over and over again?

Deifying coaches at Texas A&M based on personality, accomplishments at other schools, or random success metrics (ex: we almost won the SEC Tournament 2 years in a row) has not been a long term winning strategy.

Yes. I do think we can do better than Buzz.

Dang. That last paragraph is basically word for word what people said about Kennedy mockingly when everyone was wanting him fired. They just also made fun of his medical condition.

We fired Kennedy after taking us to 2 Sweet Sixteens, doubling our appearances there. Dunno why "made it to 3 straight tournaments!" is now the bar.

I don't remember posters on TexAgs or elsewhere ever making fun of Kennedy's medical condition. Do not make stuff up about our fanbase.

There are good coaches who aren't scumbags. And even though that should matter to you from a moral standpoint, even if it doesn't, from a basketball standpoint, imagine having to fire him in 1-2 years mid-season because he did something worse (like texas had to). Men who strangle women don't 'get better' - they'll do it again, and they often get worse.

There's a 4th option. A&M pretends that another school wants him (they dont) and not only does he stay, but they double his salary and guarantee him for a decade.

It's gonna happen.

$4.5 mill a year. For two NCAA first round wins over six years. Just unbelievable. That coupled with the Earley hire, the women's coach who has ruined that program, Jimbo's contract, etc., makes A&M the absolute blue blood of stupid, pathetic coaching hires. Good God.

1) A good AD needs to be able to walk and chew bubblegum at the same time.

2) In basically every metric, from money to exposure, basketball >>>> baseball. If we can only focus on one (see point one on that), it should be hoops.
