I feel bad for Wade

We can banter about whether the jersey hanging was dumb or whether he deserved it or whatever, but what is not up for debate is that he has been a great contributor to this program and a good representative of our school, and his career ended in fairly lackluster fashion.

I suspect no one wanted that game more than him, and it just wasn't there. With the way they denied Payne late in the game, it was there for Wade to take over and have a memorable performance. Just didn't happen. Only 9 points from the field and 1/8 from 3. The late that 3 that would have brought it back to a single possession game that hit every piece of the rim before rattling out was devastating.

Just feel bad for the dude…

Same thing happened to Acie. Had a chance to ice the game against Memphis, missed a layup, and lost the game. That was his last time with the ball here.

I just don't understand what happened this season. I know the injury derailed things a bit, but it's shocking to realize that he took a step back this season. He peaked his sophomore and junior years and then slumped a bit his senior season, even though the roster around him was the best it's been in his time here. Maybe the veteran leadership of Q and Boots helped level him out a bit. Zhuric is an incredible athlete, but his leadership as a guard isn't in the same universe as Q or Boots. I feel bad for him, but man he made a lot of poor decisions on the court down the stretch.

He bleeds for this university and is one of the best sports representatives we've ever had. He's a fighter. I wanted more for him too and for what he's given to this place, I'll forever be grateful. His parents are incredible people too and just and incredible family overall.

Oh I agree. I was only talking about a great career ending in a bad way.

That Acie layup is still so painful.

It's the Aggie way

Your analysis is correct. We had some talent this year so we won some games. But we didn't have a Boots which required the other teams to cover and let Wade have an easier time to do his thing. Our other guards were good kids but no one had anywhere near the talent of boots.

Love Wade as an Aggie and he has a good skill set, but he definitely regressed after his injury this year. Unfortunately it felt mostly mental, not physical. He jacked up so many bad shots and committed a lot of turnovers and dumb fouls. Things that you wouldn't expect a senior leader to do. I wish him the best, but we were better with him on the bench the last month or two of the season.

Wade wanted to win games by himself. I understand this since there was no other consistent offensive threat other than Payne the last two games. I still haven't figured out exactly what offense A&M runs. I think it's dribble around until the clock runs down, jack up a shot, get an offensive rebound. Restart.

Or run down the court and jack up a 3 from 27' before your offense has a chance to get in place to rebound after you miss (which you miss those at 75+% rate)

Got to be hard to craft an offense when nobody can reliably hit a shot. This is why there was so much emphasis on offensive rebounding IMO. 2nd, 3rd, 4th choices required because nobody is going to hit the 1st shot.

Absolutely agree. He won us plenty of games but he cost us a ton of them too. Most losses this year came from a negative run when we got down one possession and wade single handedly turned it into down multiple possessions in a matter of seconds

I'm sorry, but Wade was average at best this year. At best. Our supposed best player in history is not on a single draft expert's top 100 list and only put up stats because he took 67 shots a game. But crunch time? Forget about it. These guys are no longer "kids", they are paid professional athletes, subject to warranted criticism. He had a chance to put this team on his back and prove he was elite, but never did.

Phelps had some great moments this year. But his play down the stretch seemed to indicate a lack of confidence. And with nobody else on the perimeter to pull the defense off Wade even slightly, Wade had to force it to try and get his shot.

He has been a very good leader, but yesterday he chose to take several bad shots when what was working was feeding Payne down low.

The handful of early shot clock nba 3s were infuriating yesterday, even the one that went in

Agreed, and I lay that on Buzz. He's the coach and clearly let Wade just do what he does even when it was killing our momentum

they started doubling and tripling and collapsing on Payne and he was less effective after that.
A good coach would have a counter to exploit that, but we have Buzz on offense

You're correct, but Manny was self-creating shots down low by driving, pulling the defender out and dishing it off much better than Wade. Wade did start making better plays getting to the hole in the 2nd half, but still had to jack up long 3's as quickly as he could.

Yall are both right. It just still blows my mind how buzz can't make crystal clear obvious adjustments on offense. Hell, I can take it back to my 5th grade basketball days….we had a dominant big that took us to the state finals and our 5th grade level coach made simple adjustments all the time when he got doubled and tripled. It's just unbelievable to watch a buzz team in game so often.

You are just an uninformed person. Wade is 6'0" tall, and played in a league that sent 14 teams to the tourney. He spent this entire year going against elite defenders, with no consistent wing scorers. He had to work harder for every basket.

It's just incredible that people get to write any stupid crap they want on-line. I know your feewingz are hurt that Wade Taylor didn't fulfill your man-child fantasies, but it didn't happen, and now he owes you something.

I've seen dozens of players with amazing college skills, whose games in college don't translate to the NBA draft board. And literally nobody I know says he was our best player in history. That distinction goes to Acie Law, period. Anyone who says differently is just wrong. Sorry. You don't get an opinion if you disagree with that. Finished second in NPOY. End of discussion. Go find another thread to crap on.

Did he "lead" us to the first one? Honestly can't remember it was so insignificant.

But to the poster above who has it all figured out, who claims that Wade isn't draft worthy because he had to play against elite defenses all year (lol) and is only 6ft tall, you don't think the fact that he shot 35.4% from the field has anything to do with it? That's just not good bud. No matter how bad it hurts your feelings.

But no big deal.

I won't miss the thirty foot 3s that go in 1/8 times or the random dribbles off the leg, but I will miss the random games where he goes on a heater. He would be a great 3rd best player on a team.
