Thought I saw this elsewhere but I'm not sure. Did Buzz say his entire staff has been together since the beginning? I'll be interested to see if he makes any changes, since we're basically starting over. Now is the time to do it, with all the young guys we've got. New shooting coach is absolutely necessary

Buzz actually brought this up the other day about being too loyal to his staff. This was an issue with Jimbo as well. They feel obligated to take care of the families of their coaches whether they are actually good coaches are not. So the question is are they doing what's best for Texas A&M or are they doing what's best for Buzz and their coaches.

Elko is kinda doing the same thing. If some of your coaches are not head coach material its a red flag. If other schools dont want them they are probably average.

I guess it's good he's self-aware? But now he's gotta act on that self-awareness…

Buzz won't do anything to change his staff. His number one criteria in assistants is guys who will be loyal to him.

Buzz should hire a new assistant to run the offense, but he probably won't.

I don't even think we need a new offense, but we need to be better at coaching up basic offensive fundamentals if we're going to keep recruiting players that don't have them.

Elko has been here 1 year. Can we cut him a break until we see what happens next season.

Agreed. We did have a few good plays that we ran, but a lot of times it seemed like we just didn't execute them. We ran plays for players to give them an open jump shot, the problem was that the player typically couldn't make that shot.

We just need guys that know how to ball through the net with minimal or no coaching.

Also just for the sake of accuracy we have had one assistant change since Buzz has been here. Jamie McNeilly left for TCU (taking Emmanuel Miller with him) and then we hired Steve Roccaforte who had previously coached with Buzz at Virginia Tech.

Hey Elko said it himself. We can't stop the run with 3 NFL draft picks.. two that will be first round picks. He said we cant run a zone defense. All this is coaching.

He is riding with them. We will see

As long as you agree he isn't an Urban Meyer or Calipari. It was an economic hire (likely Sherman) because someone got a rash and needed to spend $120 million really fast.

Elko is taking over defensive playcalling from Bateman. So that's a step in the right direction

Buzz hires like A&M hires. Gotta get the guys who 'get us' and Buzz likes to hire guys who 'get' him....

In fairness, it's pretty hard to really "get" ol' Buzz.
I'd say it's far more important for him to hire people that "get" him, as opposed to A&M hiring people that "get" the school

The coaching business is a brutal career choice and the coach and his family know this. If you don't perform well your done. Fortune 500 companies know this for success with their employees. The AD's gotta run this the same.

Buzz said in his post game presser that he had only 4 true friends in the world, and 2 of them are on his staff.
Then he made some off hand comment about what that says about him. It also says something about his staff.

Buzz ain't making a staff change.
