We are not a serious sports school.

That being said....... I am all in on this new coach (whatever his name is).

Obviously money whipping a "big name" like Jimbo was a cluster. Hiring from within stopped baseball in it's tracks!
If rumors are true, our athletic department (and BMA decision makers) is a joke and no "real coach" would even consider this place.

So why the hell not?????

For the billionth time, we were never going to get a splash hire to coach here. Never, ever, ever, never. Period. Buzz was the closest thing we've ever had to a splash hire and at least half of our fan base wanted him gone.

We are not…I repeat NOT…a basketball school. Maybe this guy can change that, but 120 years of history and other people trying haven't made it happen.

Until we stop caring only about football and obsessing over all things Texas, we will never move forward and succeed. No one in A&M athletics can see the big picture. They only see football and their Longhorn related schadenfreude. Nothing else matters.

Never said I was mad. Certainly not pouting!

Just 4 decades of frustration of always doing less with more. It's just time to lower expectations and enjoy the wins as they come!


Sad to think we are on the same sports level as the likes of Okie state, Mississippi State, and NC State.

Utah > Samford...but you never know.

Bill Self's analysis and CM Newton's son recommendation are starting to sway me.

Coach K was a nobody with a losing season to complete his tenure at Army. But then, he studied under Bobby Knight as a player and coach.

Bucky has a good high motion offense. But stepping up to the SEC bigtime...without seasoned mentorship. It's rolling the dice.

1. They made a serious commitment to basketball - financially and through a total buy in from their fan bases.

2. They see the bigger picture. Auburn likes nothing more than to beat Alabama and vice versa. However, if you're going to be a nationally successful program, you have to realize there is more to the season than just beating your main rival. A&M has not learned that and likely never will.

3. Bama and Auburn fans love and care about all Bama and Auburn sports...not just football. Plus, they both have really good football programs with recent national titles and that draws fans to other sports. We consistently put forth disappointing football teams and that sours the fan base for the rest of the year.

4. Finally - and this is the biggest point - the Alabama and Auburn athletic departments know how to let their coaches do their jobs and run their programs. Both schools have overzealous big cigars, but Oates and Pearl know how to play the game but make sure the AD and the donors STAY OUT OF THE WAY. We do not subscribe to that way of thinking at Texas A&M.

Look at Florida they are borderline blue blood and they always go after young up and comers like Golden and White. And prior Donovan who people saw as a massive risk. Few years at lowly Marshall.

Sad how true and spot on this is.

Our athletics program is deeply toxic without accountability, and our fanbase feeds off of toxic positivity, wrapped up in a culture that supports mediocrity by using "tradition" as an excuse. It's a recipe for poor results.

This is next level BAS right here. Most can't even decide if this is a good hire and you've already got us losing him down the road. Kudos sir - we have achieved the entire spectrum of negativity here.

Keep greasing the pole of the power brokers of the athletic department.
If you think the decision makers that run the athletic department have performed up to even their own expectations, either your brain or your depends are full.

Yeah, it's frustrating.... and watching the sunshine pumpers within the program continue to do less with more only compounds the situation.

It's fun watching the likes of tceh, baylol, purple baylol, cougar high, sip, and zero u perform in their occasional spotlights while we seem to be on the outside looking in more times than not!

We seem to parallel Jerry Jones and the Cowboys, sadly!
Relying on "the brand" and wishing things will get better only to repeatedly settle for mediocrity has been the M.O. for decades!

So yeah, I would call that frustrating! At least I (mostly) don't get my panties in a wad and lash out at people when, God forbid, they post on TAs, which you do on a continual basis! But I guess we can't all be geniuses like you!

Excuse me while I go back to class and eat my crayons now!
