It has worked in the one case with Sampson as head coach. They really aren't any good at anything else and he's plowed money into football if not other sports. It may or may not continue when Daddy Sampson retired, the son may not have the same record as dad

Really going out on a limb there. You could say that about any program enjoying success.

A&M should consider hiring an established coach who commits to a program instead of using it as a stepping stone.

I'd say he put us on track to have a consistent tourney team.

Now we need the next step of a guy similar but with NIL as their focus. One generation needs to now be passed on to the next.

I mean, I hate UH, but to act like they aren't a successful program is asinine. At this exact moment, you may be correct, but in the last 20-30 years, they are a better football program than we are. And their baseball program is middling to decent over the years. Better than ours right now. And they have a great basketball tradition. Phi Slamma Jamma, 6 Final Fours, this is their second national championship game, we've never sniffed one.

Kelvin demanded certain things from UH and Fertitta and he got them. Kelvin took his 6 years NBA knowledge and applied what he thought would get players to the next level, that included literally a family business approach to his program, and he got the hire and fire finality, in a way he is the 2nd in command at UH Athletics.

Did you even read the thread? I never said UH MBB wasn't successful. They didn't become good, recently until two things happened, they hired Sampson and they had billionaire writing checks. Again they have had periods where their MBB was terrible.

Tillman has pumped money into football and it's not paid off like MBB. Their football and baseball programs are not better than ours.

3rd.
Cougar High has made it to the National Championship game in 1983, 1984 and 2025.

In 1983 they lost the heartbreaker to NC State. If they played in a 7 game series they would have won that in 5 or 6 games.
They ran it back in 1984 and lost to Georgetown/Patrick Ewing in the National Title Game

In 1982 they lost the Final Four to the eventual National Champion North Carolina/Michael Jordan
In 2021 they lost in the Final Four to the eventual National Champion Baylor.

2025 they face Florida for a chance to finally win it all.

The last 4 times that Houston has made the Final Four they've lost to the eventual National Champion.
I think they are going to get rid of those demons and bring the Natty back to Texas.

Would it be great to have a billionaire supporting the athletic program(s)… sure . I think we have a big group of bma's that do support but mostly for football. I think where a& m and the AD is missing the bus is engaging the thousands of successful Ags that aren't necessarily "rich" but would be willing to chip in relatively small amounts that would collectively make a difference for basketball.

You're correct, but some people have enough to do both and we aren't in control of how they spend their money

Also, socialism deems the government redistributes your money to the places it wants. You're thinking of philanthropy which is voluntary.
