If we're talking traditional 8-ball, I think Houston has the sharks to take it. 9-ball is anybody's guess but my money would be on Duke.

Great question!

Basketball is such a strange game, like a team can just seem invincible and then all of a sudden a crack shows, other teams see it, they start to attack it too, and then even if that team adjusts it seems like that magic is gone. That's what it felt like happened to Auburn. Even after they started playing really well again, they just didn't have the same... call it aura, around them.

And then sometimes you don't have it, and then you catch it. Florida was good all season but they didn't feel unbeatable, but they lost to Georgia on February 25th and then never lost again and it really felt like they couldn't lose no matter what the situation was or how unlikely victory seemed.

This is a long way of saying that I think if they all played each other like 7 times that Duke would ultimately shake out as the best team. I'm not even sure it's all that close. But Florida just had that magic this time.

We broke Auburn so put that in our list of accomplishments in 2025.

I do think Payne injured, or more likely, aggravated an existing Broome injury. Broome never looked right after our game, and then obviously further injured himself in the semifinal.
