Smart. Don't pretend to be something you're not. Find the next up and comer for $300k and let that guy know if he performs well he will be the next multi millionaire SEC basketball coach. If you want a guy that wants to stay at Samford and work his way up to a $350k contract it probably means you found someone mediocre enough to tread water.

Samford is a classy school. I'm sure they're sad to lose their coach but I wouldn't expect them to react with anything other than grace. Beautiful campus, too.

The show Full Ride on Sirius XM had Bucky's Godfather on their show as they knew him. He is a big Bama supporter but actually ran the collective for Samford. Good interview if you have Sirius. It was on the Monday morning episode, look for the interview with Frank Bromberg(sp?).

Samford AD is the son of CM Newton who coached at Bama and Vandy, and was the AD for UK (where he played under Rupp).

Besides, Samford plays SEC schools in football constantly. We/they need to maintain a good working relationship
