Was trying to find more info on coach Bucky, and stumbled on this guys blog… wow. He's completely unhinged when it comes to Bucky. I'm not sure what McMillan did to this guy, maybe stole his girlfriend or something, but he's obsessed for sure…

By "some issues" I'm assuming you mean he's on the spectrum?

Idk about that, but I do have a sneaking suspicion that when he was a senior in HS, he had a crush on the prettiest girl in school and Bucky was a hot shot freshman basketball player that came in and asked her out and ol marky mark swore he'd make Bucky pay.

He's never said anything negative about Bucky on coaching strategy or basketball. It's always about the fact a friend hired him for the Sanford job, and that Bucky didn't have to be an assistant coach for years like most coaches do according to him. He's whined nonstop about the same thing every time.

I saw the article was from 2020 right after they hired him, so I figured I would pull up an article more recent where this writer probably does a 180 and admits he was wrong.

NOPE!

He has an article written TWO MONTHS AGO about how he doesnt like Bucky McMillan because he didn't pay his dues, climb the ladder, and serve an assistant before becoming coach.

The guy is insanely envious. Samford obviously hit the lottery hiring McMillan and winning two back to back conference championships when it hadn't sniffed one in 25 years. But he obviously didn't deserve to be head coach????


That's like complaining that Jesus didn't deserve to be a rabbi because God himself gave him the job of Savior of the World without Him working his way up the Jewish ladder. He didn't pay his dues- at least up front. This guy is nothing if not silly.

It is funny that at one point he makes the argument that the HS he left won the state championship the year after he left and therefore it wasn't really Bucky that was a good coach. The dude obviously doesn't understand how a culture can be built so strong that success remains after the architect leaves. (Which is another reason I'm excited about Bucky)

I feel like he kind of alluded to that in his interview with Paul Finebaum. Not sure if I'm misremembering, but I think he said something to the effect of it just kind of worked out that way

I like our guy and am optimistic about the potential. Who cares about the internet podcast? We did the precise thing we should have done. Avoid the splash hire and go for the up and coming mid major Coach.

Like it or not that's our ceiling and we need to make the most of it. Save the $$ and put it into NIL and top notch assistants..
