I really think it could go either way.
It's good that he's not the only player impacted by this decision, groups of players have always had better luck than just one guy. But I dunno, a full on blanket ruling that JuCo years don't count would have some pretty significant implications.
I think the best bet is that the NCAA grants a one-time exemption for anyone that went to Juco around the covid years. I think you could make a pretty good case that travel restrictions, game restrictions, etc. made it hard for players to move around during those years.
In Agee's case, he redshirted in '20, then played one game in '21. He can't really visit campuses, some staffs couldn't travel, etc. Budgets were extremely limited. Is a D1 school really going to offer him?
I honestly can't decide where I land on whether or not Juco years should count moving forward, but I don't think it's unreasonable to give players a waiver that were Juco players from say 2020 to 2023.

I'm coming around on the juco not counting, and while we're at it, let's let anyone with eligibility remaining the opportunity to come back, let DeAndre come back and play a few more seasons while he works towards a degree.
In all seriousness, juco is not the same as playing and/or being enrolled at a DI/DII…let guys go play a year or two at the juco level without it counting against their eligibility.

I disagree but I hope that he qualifies anyways.
I see it differently as a father of 2 boys trying to play HS basketball.
Both will graduate HS at 17.
Yet, guys still hanging around til 25 in college. They don't make room for the next generation. Rarely can 18 compete with 25 yr old men in basketball. They Just clogging sheet up for others to have an opportunity.

It's a complicated deal, both philosophically of what college sports *should* be and legally of what anyone can actually enforce. I wish we could speed run through this part of it until it's all settled because it's not particularly fun as a fan to keep track of.

Agreed on this but also selfishly want Agee to play on our team and not your sons.

I don't think anybody knows when. Luke said it's 50/50 on whether he gets the waiver.

Could Agee's agent could sue the NCAA for depriving him of income (NIL money)? I wonder if there's a conflict of interest from some alumni from other schools (NCAA staff members) being afraid the Texas A&M will beat their school in March Madness. Agee is 23 years old, born January, 2022.

Indeed he's been gone a long time. BUT.....if his name comes up in a discussion on the basketball team- I'm not going to abstain from sharing. I know you were big BK supporter back in the day and feel free to share your opinion too, if you want (or not, I don't care).
Just like BCG has been gone a longer time than BK and I know would share my opinion on him (as it relates to the topic) when relevant. Nor would I ask someone else on this forum, that didn't care for BCG, for whatever reason, to not share their opinion.

He's in school. The NCAA eligibility doesn't have any impact on it he can enroll. They have even said he has wasn't cleared by NCAA not too long ago but they were optimistic. Now it's possible he got grants eligibility lately, but I think we would know.

Last year, 14 SEC teams made the tournament. Bucky mentioned this as one of the positives of being in the SEC. With all the talent on the team, with or without Agee, it seems to me that the Aggies will make the tournament. Eemil Martinez, one of the latest additions seems to fit Bucky Ball perfectly. Why do you think Agee is so critical?
Last year the SEC was the best conference in the history of college basketball, and the ACC was inexcusably bad. There's just no way the SEC is that dominant again.
But Agee is going to be important because he's a physical player than can play multiple positions and guard multiple positions. Everyone has talked about his leadership all off-season and it really feels like he's the glue that kind of keeps thing thing together. I picture him like an Andersson Garcia or Alex Caruso where he's probably not the best player on his team, but he sets a tone for everyone else with how he plays.
An easier way to put it is that I don't think having him or not having him changes our ceiling that much, but I think having him raises our floor considerably.

Okay, I like that explanation. I expect the SEC to be very strong again and the Aggies will add to that. Do you have any thoughts on Eemil Martinez? Don'i you think the Aggies will be in, say, the top five teams in the SEC?
It will be interesting to see how the Aggies fare against Alabama, Auburn, Flotida, Kentucky, and Arkansas at Reed. Maybe Agee could be a grad. asst. and help with team esprit even if he;s not eligible.
