Wholesale roster rebuild and put 95 on Az state. Looks like an exciting year in Aggie basketball. I'm not missing Buzz one bit. However I do wish Solo would have stayed.

How is that part different from previous years? This time we have ability to score when it matters. Those will get cleaned up as they play together more.

He's saying it's impressive to score 95 points while having 18 empty possessions.

And we missed at least 5-6 point blank layups in the first half.

Last year 18 turnovers meant we might not break 65 points.

Interestingly, last year we did have 18 turnovers and score 92 points in game, but it was against Abilene Christian, lol.

OK, this was supposed to be a' yes and' not an opportunity to do some lightning fast research.

That's why I waited until the day after, lol. I'm with you, I just thought that was interesting when I looked it up.

But 95 points while having 18 turnovers is wild, it means you definitely did something else impressive. Against ACU last year it was shooting 58% from the field AND rebounding 64% of our misses.

Yesterday it was just being blistering hot from beyond the arc and getting fouled a lot. We shot 45% from 3 and shot 29 FTs at 68%.

Even while having 18 turnovers we put up 1.173 point per possession which is absolutely nuts. 1.173 points per possession would have been top ten in all of college basketball last season.

didnt see the game but you have to be impressed by a few of the stats that came out of this game. the point total against decent competition is exciting. the resilience shown as well. if we can get anywhere close to this production from clemence watch out. we just need to get and stay healthy.

The best part that I remember is that we didn't have a lot of bad shots. Very few contested jumpers off the dribble or just throwing up a 3 at the end of the shot clock.

Here are my highlights from the game. I can't wait for next Monday. ASU was picked to finish last in the Big 12, but we scored 95 without two of our best guys, can't complain too much.

  • The ball movement yesterday was such a breath of fresh air. Most of the 3's we took were what I would consider to be open.
  • The bench counted down when the shot clock got low, and I only remember them doing that once or twice. We were getting mostly good shots up, and doing it early.
  • We did barrel into the lane a few times expecting calls and never got them.
  • The defense was hit or miss, but when you shoot it like we did, you can get away with that.
  • Holloway was an stabilizing force when we was in the game. Ended with 9 assists at +24.
  • Federiko is LONG. He causes problems.
  • Griffen is a bucket-getter. Every time he put one up, I felt like it was going in. He's also LONG.
  • Clemence was on fire in the second half. I don't think he missed from 3. Also got at least one block. He'll give this team more good minutes than I originally thought.
  • Agee is tough. He'll be a Dawg of the Game contender every night. He also made a three and knocked down his free throws.
  • I was super pumped to see Dominguez. I'm not sure if he was amped or what, but he was off a bit at first and then settled down towards the end. His shot is lightning quick and looks great.

But, I like it, Bucky did in that he commented with we started slow and took a while for the guys to get into it. We should have scored 110.

So, I wonder with 2 of our best players, would we be expected to score 125????

This is gonna be fun!!!!!!

I was curious whether Holloway could make the jump to major DI. He's a freak athletically, but had a tendency to get tunnel vision. It's a huge plus for him to be able to contribute as he's the only guy Bucky brought from Samford.

Sounds like Agee is going to be to this team what Jermaine Marshall was to several of Bucky's Samford teams. The enforcer, culture guy, etc. Especially as he's establishing his style of play and what it takes to play that way, Bucky needs a guy to set the tone.

I was hoping Northwestern St. would have a decent tempo, but Kenpom rates them very low. Otherwise I'd say don't be surprised to see 130-140 on the board in this first game.

Yeah they changed coaches a few years ago, they were an insanely fast team under their old coach, those games were fun.

Something I noticed from perusing the box score. 9 guys got 15 mins +. Shouldn't be surprising based on the style but it indicates we have depth and that's with 2 projected starters not playing. Also … 45 bench points with. Clemence accounting for 20 of them.
