I love the tempo! Good shot selection should lead to a pretty high scoring team. On ball defense could be improved along with rebounding, but as long as we force more turnovers than we commit, we should be in it with everyone.

My takeaways good and bad:

- Like the offense even though I still think we can play better,

-defense will be hit and miss with our press,

- rebounding might be the biggest issue of this team.

- All 3 of our centers aren't very physical

- Holloway should be our main PG, he is calming influence when things get chaotic

- I want more Griffen, I like his game

- I think Luke overrated Pop a little bit, he can be good shooter, but he is worse perimeter defender, not quick, and I think can be lazy on defense and the shooting doesn't hide the other things. Not 2nd best player on this team


All this said we won't truly know a lot until competition gets better

Also my thoughts on starting 5 once Mgbako comes back should be

Josh Holloway is impressing me with his leadership so far. During that stretch last night he was trying to get the team to huddle and flush the bad plays. It makes sense, as he is the only one that has ever played for Bucky at Samford.

I see OSU is picked around 11th in the preseason Big 12 predictions, bottom third/half of the 16 team league. Strong league, OSU went 7-13 in conference in Lutz's first season. Some productive scorers brought in through the portal.

I think it is really hard to tell what this team is going to be this year. Only two games in and it feels like they are still coming together as a team and learning to play together. So far there have been some promising things, but also some obvious concerns. Will be fun to watch how this team grows as the season continues.

I've go real concerns about our centers vs physical SEC big men. I think the team will come together more over time but am ready for a few ugly losses.

Yes defensively won't be any better than Buzz team, but Bucky had only so much time to put this together.

While I get Buzz is a good coach, his teams would have so many poor offensive or shooting nights that I quit going to live games. If he didn't have one off his star players having a hot shooting night or able to win isos, team would struggle.

Expect current team will struggle vs better SEC competition, but ball movement and movement w/o the ball has been better already (2 keys to successful bball offense). Saw way to many nights where Buzzs team would be spectators of the superstar isos and bored the hell out of me.

I would agree but it's game 2. Also we did adjust and play much better in 2nd half.

But to me it nice to see how this system can work or overcome bad defensive stretches with our ability to score

I really like how we can appear to be 'struggling' and you blink and we're up by 10 or 20. There are some times when we look haphazard but not in a bad way if that makes sense. We have so many more options we can go to for scoring it's like something we've not seen in years. Playing 12 or 13 guys who are actually good is truly amazing to me since the current team started with just 1 player back in the spring. Back when the whole Bucky era started, I didn't think we would be anywhere near this good with basically no returning players. It'll be interesting to see how the season plays out against better competition for sure.

I'm cautiously optimistic. We're still missing a lot of our planned scoring with Mgbako out and Pop rounding into shape.
If we're without Agee on Sunday, I would think we'd have a very low chance of winning. I kind of think he's our best player right now, but who knows! If we have a hot shooting day, we can win with this group against most.

We've basically turned into the football team that runs the air raid, never punts, and blitzes every single play defensively. It's all or nothing At times it'll look gorgeous and at times it'll look horrendous. We are gonna obliterate some teams on nights that shots are falling and probably get obliterated a few times ourselves

I think we have enough offensive talent that we will be an average SEC team and on the bubble, hopefully on the right side of it. Defense and rebounding scares me against good comp. Complete 180 from the last few years where we knew the defense and rebounding would be stellar, the question was whether we could score 70

Having grown up in the 70s and 80s, this style of play is giving me serious fast break flashbacks. Back then 100 point games were common and in many respects the best defense was a high scoring offense. Think UNLV. I love it. Can't get enough of it.

I will not miss the days of our offense basically turning into 4 players standing around and watching Wade dribble out the shot clock and jack up a 3 from way out

Have reservations about the defensive game plan. They give up way too many easy baskets in transition and in the half court.

Impressed with the ball movement on offense, also impressed with Hill, Holloway, and Lane.
