For the "nothing matters just win eat at Arby's" crowd regarding attendance, here's a perfect example of a chance for the athletic department/12th Man to do something.
Saturday's conference opener game only has a few hundred seats or so left for sale. All the lower level tickets are $50+. The cheapest on SeatGeek anywhere in the arena is also about $50. There are some upper level seats for $25+ also through 12th Man.
But that still leaves the entire student section available. We know classes aren't in session yet and that very few students are likely to show up. And on Gameday they'll start selling student tickets to the general public as general admission.
So why wait? Go ahead and announce some kind of new year's special for families. Buy two adult GA tickets and get up to four half price kids tickets or something. Go ahead and give people the chance to make plans and buy those tickets.
