I really think Bucky Ball is going to work and catch on here. I like what he's building and built already. Again, I realize these players are still getting to know each other.

I'm amazed at what McMillan has done with a completely depleted roster (I think one player retained from last year), along with what he's done so far in recruiting.

HOWEVER, the basketball IQ needs to improve drastically.

We gave away a game already to SMU due to their applying full court press and we weren't prepared--HOPEFULLY WE'VE BEEN CONSISTENTLY WORKING ON BREAKING THE PRESS. Pass the ball -- Receive the pass and try to pass immediately with very little dribbling in between. (Good) Passing tends to kill the press. Keep the ball in the middle of the court and do not go (dribble) to the sidelines or the mid-court corner once you've gone past mid court.

YESTERDAY, ahead by four (4) points with four (4) seconds left in the game and we foul on the in-bound pass before a second ticks off the clock. ALL OF THE COACHES SHOULD HAVE BEEN YELLING TO THE PLAYERS ON THE COURT BEFORE THE IN BOUNDS PASS "DO NOT FOUL ! ! ! ! !" YET, AGEE FOULS. WTF!!!!!! Granted, it was highly improbable that lsu could come back to tie (and/or win); however, this should have never happened.

What you have to realize, too, is that they have probably worked in this exact situation many times in practice. Sometimes, kids and coaches just make mistakes.

It takes a beat to get things working…

Good passing and movement. We still need more movement to create passing lanes in all phases.

Like in the smu game, I guess you expect a 23 year old to know better.

All the movement in the world isn't going to get anyone open when we go through those stretches without anyone on the floor who can score at the basket.

Correct, but it's an easier shot once you get past half court. It's demoralizing when you can't get past half court either by turnover or clock penalty.

Also, a strategic time out will sometimes stop an opponent's run.

Yes but getting to open shooters and reducing unforced turnovers are important too.

Sometimes kids have brain farts. Bucky told the team, "The only way we lose is if we foul or call a timeout (because we didn't have a timeout left). Then Agee fouls. It happens.

LSU made more mistakes in the last 2 minutes than we did.

They were exhausted. Part of our game plan when they only play 8 players.

We have plenty of ball movement, but need to set more ball screens. We're getting nice spacing, and had a lot of open looks. We need to make the 3s during games.

We're 37th in 3FG%, 33rd in 2FG% overall per KP. This is the best Texas A&M MBB shooting team since 2007.

We shot 44% and 39% against Florida State (who pushed Duke) and Pitt.

We're getting the looks - the shots will fall. When they don't we have to manufacture a win, like vs. LSU last night.

SMU just beat UNC.

And that only helps our rankings. It still doesn't change the fact we gave the game away to smu.

In beating the press, you must look to pass first and dribble second. The ball travels to the open man faster than the ball handler can move through double teams.
